Strengths: Sounds good, but...
Weaknesses: Their Privacy Policy.
Overall Evaluation: A free rootkit detector with no strings attached sounds too good to be true and I started to register for the download but then decided to look-see their Privacy Policy first and according to their Privacy Policy there's two statements that especially worried me. 1) "You may unsubscribe from ALL Sophos mailing lists, with the exception of any emails regarding product updates, upgrades or renewals." If I un-installed their rootkit detection program and wanted nothing more to do with Sophos, does that mean I'd still be receiving some of their emails regarding product updates, upgrades or renewals for the rest of my life since there's no way to unsubscribe from them? And 2) They state: "...if you have requested not to receive email communication from Sophos, we MAY also share your contact information with third parties to ensure you also do not receive email communication from them on behalf of Sophos." They don't say they WILL definitely share your contact information with third parties to ensure you also do not receive email communication from them on behalf of Sophos, but rather that they only MAY. Does this mean to imply that perhaps they also MAY NOT which means I could still end up receiving unwanted spam from 3rd parties in the future, afterall, there's big money to be made in the selling of information to 3rd parties?

Strengths: Fast scanning. Picks up the kits.
Weaknesses: I was not able to remove the kits. The clean up checked items would not work. Could be because it would not let me check the items once the scan was done.
Overall Evaluation: Great for detection, but failed miserably when I attempted to check items for deletion. I am sure there is an answer to this, and if there is, I would appreciste hearing about it.
