Strengths: Easy to navigate
Weaknesses: BookGenie's photo indexing does not work.
Overall Evaluation: I was really excited when I found Picaboo and the BookGenie. I recently started creating photo books and something that could save me some time is very welcome. I downloaded the Picaboo app and started the BookGenie. It began to index my photos. I have about 3,700 photos in my photo folder. I let it run. And run. And run. 24 hours later, I checked on it and it had indexed 2,394 files and created 11 books (or so it says... it never would show them to me). I let it continue. Another 24 hours later, I checked on it again. It was still at 2,394 files. I assumed it had gotten stuck. I emailed Picaboo support. That was a week ago - they still haven't gotten back to me yet. Instead of trying to index the entire folder full of pictures, I decided to try to index a smaller sub-folder and see where it got me. I chose a folder with 296 pictures in it. The BookGenie gave me an error and said there were too few pictures to create an album. It had only found 52 photos in that folder. I broadened the range, this time selecting 3 sub-folders. This time instead of finding about 1,000 photos, it found 5,287 photos - more than my entire volume of photos! I decided the software was junk at that point. It is unable to index properly and in the time I waited for a photo book to appear (which I am still waiting for, btw), I could have created a couple of my own. I've been using Walgreens and have been very happy with it so far. Especially since every week they have specials for anywhere from 20 to 50% off photo gifts. Until Picaboo fixes their BookGenie, I'm staying away.

Strengths: Decent Software
Weaknesses: Customer Service
Overall Evaluation: I used Picaboo to create a number some photo calendars of my new born son for our family as XMas gifts. I created 5 different calendars with different pictures depending on who it was for. The software was pretty easy to use...nothing fancy. The range of product options is limited and while you have a lot of backgrounds to choose from, it's difficult to browse them all. As someone else mentioned, the software is pretty slow overall. MY BIGGEST ISSUE was discovered when checking out...you cannot combine multiple items into a single order. As a result, the five calendars I had created all had to be processed separately, and, worse, I had to pay shipping on all of them. I ended up paying an extra $80 in shipping charges alone ( I had invested too much time to walk away at that point). This is not a company that is customer focused and I would recommend staying clear as a result. Had much better experience with our wedding photobooks at Blurb.
