Strengths: Free and for the avgerage PC user looking for some level of quick hide, this is a great program. It does what it says it will do: hide a selected folder. Easy to use and fast to set up
Weaknesses: Nagging "Registration" prompt everytime you open the program. Potential chance of losing all files inside.
Overall Evaluation: Since using this product, I've totally lost all files I've put in there for no reason. So users should beware of this potential hazard. Despite this weakness, I still use it, but, with a leary mind now.

Strengths: Very easy to use. Works as advertised. I like it because it is simple to use and is effective for my purpose of hiding folders.
Weaknesses: The help file says you can set it to hide selected files on exit, but I can't find that option.
Overall Evaluation: Very good Program that is easy to use, works effectively. And it's Free. I would rate it superior if I could figure out how to hide folders automatically on exit option.

Strengths: Works as promised and is FREE.
Weaknesses: DO NOT forget your password to get into it. If you do, they can and will help you recover though. This means that if you take your 'puter into a repair shop, the guys there can also get your password from the company just as you can.
Overall Evaluation: VERY nice.

Strengths: No encryption of files, etc. Password only.
Weaknesses: It permanently hid all previously hidden folders from view.
Overall Evaluation: I installed this program several times. Each time the program hid all folders checked as hidden in the Windows Properties dialog for those folders. I colud not get to any of those folders to show up in the program. Self-defeating. If I need to get to a hidden file or folder, I have to uninstall the program to do so. This applies to every file and folder marked as Hidden before I installed this program. No fix was given to me by the developer, and PCWorld still hasn't posted this issue in the description, so maybe it's just my experience. For those who have this program, check to see if you can see any hidden files or folders in the Windows directory. I can't if this program is installed. I guess you could unhide all files and folders before installing, then use this program to hide them all again. But then what about Windows Updates? New ones will be totally hidden unless you uninstall this program. Or apparently use some other browser to find it, which is also self-defeating. For the reviewer complaining about History, download and install TWEAKUI. It gives you the option to do away with history altogether if you want. Even the history in most non-Microsoft apps. But you probably like the history feature, just not for hidden files. Again, self-defeating.

Strengths: Hmmm - if it doesn't work at all, what are you supposed to write here?
Weaknesses: Hide a folder, run e.g. TreeSize Pro over the whole drive, you can see it again - with an encrypted name, but all the content. Then you just copy/paste what you need :-(
Overall Evaluation: Hides a folder, yes, but only from the Windows file manager. Other programs will still allow you to view it & copy content out of it. Not something that does the job properly.

Strengths: Ease of use
Weaknesses: Misses some basic options
Overall Evaluation: So close! This is almost the perfect application for someone who isn't paranoid about security but wants to hide folders from others. Only thing was, it doesn't erase your "my recent document" history. If you click on "abc.doc" - you will get access to a file in a hidden folder. If you could erase that history, this would be IDEAL for the home user who isn't worried about all the fuss for encryption.

Strengths: it works and doesn't use basic show/hide files from the file explorer. unlike "my private folder" from microsoft, this acts like a control panel and can hide or show folders in any location.
Weaknesses: not sure. doesnt seem to be hackable. and not sure if it has a built in time out that will ultimately hold the folder hostage unless you buy it. but i could not find anything in between the lines to suggest it is hostage ware.
Overall Evaluation: It does what is says - so far.
