  Duration of ownership: 1 Days

  Strengths: Cheap, easy, fast, effective and best of all free.

  Weaknesses: Sometimes messes up with the placement of graphics.

  Overall Evaluation: The program does have an "Embed fonts" option available, and I suspect using this would prevent the problem that DBoyd experienced.

  Duration of ownership: 3 Months

  Strengths: it's small, doesn't use ghostscript so you simply install it and create the pdf files

  Weaknesses: -

  Overall Evaluation: it's very good, does exactly what it says ("do pdf") and quite fast. it also has an option to embed fonts, so the receiver doesn't have to have the fonts installed.

  Strengths: Resolution feature and several different page setups.

  Weaknesses: Receiver of PDF (or downloader from a website) must have fonts (beyond a few standard fonts) on his system or your font choices will be substituted.

  Overall Evaluation: Program should not be made available without disclaimer that it doesn't really create usable PDF files.
