Strengths: it works.
Weaknesses: it slows down the entire system and the first time i installed it, i couldn't get rid of it (uninstalling it effectively disabled my NIC).
Overall Evaluation: under xp, it worked great.. under vista, it's not worth it. if you want to be able to block outbound connections and you don't mind doing a bit of extra work, use vista's firewall (run wf.msc).

Strengths: There is none
Weaknesses: All this program can do is crash under vista.
Overall Evaluation: Zone Alarm still can't get things right. All this program does crash Vista. Zone Alarm needs to work the bugs out of their programs frist.

Strengths: I have yet to determine its strengths. It does, though, block what is not necessary, and dutifully asks for permission for program to connect, which is just fine.
Weaknesses: I have yet to determine its weaknesses. Perhaps I might find those by comparing it with another firewall program.
Overall Evaluation: However, I have had no problems with this program in the two months that I've been using it. Perhaps, then, this may be one of its strengths, though I've yet to compare it with another firewall program.

Strengths: None !!!!..... If it will'nt install in Vista how can it have a strength!!!!!!
Weaknesses: Install errors like: Installer encounter an error: 0x80004005 unspecified error, Validation Failed for vsmon.exe and for vsinit.dll
Overall Evaluation: Do not try to install this dog of software, it will grab your system and not let go!!!! I tried 3 times to install this software after 3 downloads after 2 1/2 hrs. i just reset my machine 3 times. My System is a p-4 ,2 gb Ram, Intel motherboard. It was the latest vers. This software is a joke it should'nt have gone out the door, it has ruined the reputation of Zonelabs. It should go back to Gibson Research ! I have used and trusted this software for years it was great, not anymore, I have never had is much trouble instaling software in 17 years. Good luck if you try to install it

Strengths: Ability to block outbound internet traffic.
Weaknesses: Unstable under Vista
Overall Evaluation: I've been using ZoneAlarm for years, so I was glad to see a Vista-compatible version. I had first attempted to use Vista's firewall, but configuring the firewall for outbound traffic was difficult. The ZoneAlarm installation went well. ZA seemed to work as it had under other Windows OSs. However, my computer became progressively slow and unstable. At one point, it even bluescreened. While I can't definitively blame this on ZoneAlarm, my computer immediately perked up when I removed it. I have found that a free downloadable interface to Windows Vista firewall greatly improves its configurability (Vista Firewall Control).

Strengths: None
Weaknesses: Everything
Overall Evaluation: After downloading from the ZoneAlarm/Check Point site I attempted to install. At the end of the installation my screen went blue and some indecipherable lettering appeared on the screen. I re-attempted 2 more download/installations with the same result. On the final attempt, I had to use the Windows restore function at startup to get my computer to function again. This was for an HP laptop w/Vista Home Premium, 2 mb memory, & AMD Turion X2 TL-56.
