Strengths: very well, found 2 rootkit (which prevent me to connect to Internet) in my PC that even NIS 2009 with latest update unable to found...GREAT!!
Weaknesses: just one, no update
Overall Evaluation: Have faith in this software, it really able to take out Rootkit from your PC. It is NOT antivirus, so you can have it beside your trusted Antivirus. Do not fear that it will slow down your PC, cause it won't. Many AV said it has Anti Rootkit, but only this one prove it's effectiveness (without update)

Strengths: Found and deleted the main rootkit UAC* files (DLLs, SYS drivers, etc) that had infected my PC.
Weaknesses: Missed 3 files which had malformed file types (DL_ & SY_) that were harmlessly sitting out in the open once the other rootkit files were deleted, registry cleaned and PC restarted.
Overall Evaluation: Does exactly what it says! Still need to delete registry entries or use a good registry cleaner/scrubber software; I did both. (BTW, I knew it was UAC* files from Norton 360 - it didn't stop it, couldn't fix it but it identified one UAC*.DLL.) Also no further updates. However, this '06 or '07 version AVG Anti-Rootkit seemed to work just fine!

Overall Evaluation: Good product, I recomend it. And FYI Romeo, your illiterate rant was of no use to anyone. In the future, please either post a helpful evaluation, or take your b.s. elsewhere

Strengths: well avg anti root kit says its good by removing rootkits from you system and all but be ware some people in othere forums dont use avg at all because of a weakness in all its produts espially the avg antivirus
Weaknesses: weaknes well dosent find them says it dos give the use a false sence of security by saying it is gone so how do you really no because tell me who nows what a rootkkit looks like average person cant describe them so how do they really now
Overall Evaluation: my overall judgement is comparing and whatching how my pc acts and comparing it to the avg anti rootkit its ok just ok but never does what it says by removing rootkits just like spyware and antivirus scanner how do you really really no they removed the threat like avg antirootkit says it works wonders but in comparison whith otheres avg failed alot of people like it because it is free and free stuff is were the problems happen oh they say its free like the anrivirus free but has a 60 percent detection rate for a anti rootkit or any software the detection rate must be high whith in the 80 and up then so as i said everybody likes a frre stuff and that were all the problems happen some say it works good but as i sayed early how do you really really no becase average user dosent no what a root kit looks like or a virus or spyware only software says it foud it and took it off but really how do you no for sure

Strengths: Easy to run. Provides a last line of defence for those nasty rootkits that get through
Weaknesses: Quite a few false positives. No LIVE protection in free version.
Overall Evaluation: So...I have installed a virus scanner, a firewall, and spyware protection. Sure, I feel safe but it's nice to have a program that looks for a specific piece of malware that may have got through. For rootkits, AVG does the trick. It does a great job finding and removing rootkits although the free version has no real-time protection. One must also use caution as I frequently have received false postives on perfectly legit programs like Iolo's System Mechanic.

Strengths: very easy to install and scan with this free tool.
Weaknesses: none noted.
Overall Evaluation: I have only did one scan, a deep scan, and no rootkits were found on my computer, however I do not doubt that it will be just as effective as all AVG products. Does not appear to be any conflicts with any of my other security tools that I have on my system, eg: anti-virus, adware protection. Think I will be keeping it.
