Duration of ownership: 5 Years
Strengths: Easy installation, almost runs itself.
Weaknesses: None at this time.
Overall Evaluation: I have used this product for a few years. I like the way I can now set up the automated tasks to continually keep my computer running smooth. Also, the all-in-one tools are a fast way to recover RAM and disk space. I do not worry about registry problems any longer.

Overall Evaluation: This is the best software of this type I have found.... I just renewed for another year.I recommend it to anyone looking to improve and enhance the performance of their computer.

Duration of ownership: 3 Months
Strengths: After one deep clean a large quantity of 'junk' and removable errors were speedily eradicated from my computer, which is again performing as quickly and as smoothly as when I bought it over 3 years ago
Weaknesses: I have not found any
Overall Evaluation: I would unhesitatingly recommend to anyone bexperiencing a slow-down in their computer.

Strengths: It works as advertised. I have used many over the years and this is THE best. The newest version is even better.
Weaknesses: Few and minor/if anyone has problems with this software they need to simply turn off the auto features after first reading the How to use this Software. Problem occur when using several firewalls and or more than one anti virus program as with any software.
Overall Evaluation: Iolo System Mechanic has been the most useful software I have found. For the past year, I have used it and to my delight, it has kept my computer tuned up and running like new. I had purchased the software through Dell but when my subscription ran out, I could not find it at Dell. I went to the source at iolo and purchased three licenses for the price I was paying for one. Anyone who is having issues with their computer, the blue screen of death, crazy errors that you canât seem to repair, slow performance and signs that your computer is near trashing, you need iolo System Mechanic. They now have an even better version and have added products such as Drive Scrubber and anti-virus products. You have to use these products to appreciate just how well they work and how easy they are to use. They asked if I would recommend their products â you bet. I have tried a dozen products over the years; iolo is by far the best! I rely on my computer, do you? Richard Ware Shreveport, LA.

Strengths: I couldn't find any
Weaknesses: Pretty much everything, and I'm generally somebody who tries to find something good about everything
Overall Evaluation: I bought the boxed version of this software a year or two ago, and all it ever did was make my computer run worse and slow things down -- and mess things up -- and constantly want to run routines at startup that slowed me down. I eventually uninstalled it and chalked it up to experience. I recently had someone from a computer forum email me with similar problems with the software, and I recommended they do the same. I DON'T think PCWorld should be featuring this software in its emails (it REALLY makes it question the validity of your recommendations!)

Strengths: fire and forget automation
Weaknesses: I don't like the licensing. I used previous version and didn't have to pay to keep it activated. I like Fix it Utilities better but it interferes with Utorrent.
Overall Evaluation: If you want to keep paying every couple of months go ahead. I'll keep looking for freeware. http://alternativeto.net/desktop/system-mechanic/

Strengths: It is an excellent product for keeping your PC free of problems of all kinds. Memory defrag, registrry cleaner & compacter, devry removal are only some of the things that help keep my PC in top shape.
Weaknesses: In all the years I have used it, I can not name any weaknesses.
Overall Evaluation: It is the best software for PC maintenance.

Strengths: Iolo System Mechanic. As I have no technical knowledge regarding pcâs it was my good luck that I stumbled upon Iolo System Mechanic. I gave it a try and was amazed how much my pcâs performance improved after System Mechanic had done its job. Fully automatic, it required no input from me and produced even better results than my pc engineer has done on its annual service and charged a fortune for. I was even more impressed with the price. Strengths: It seems to find more problems that are missed by my other utilities ,by using more then one system repair utility Iam either fixing all problems or creating new ones ,not sure yet system still running fine !
Weaknesses: It often mixes system settings preferance in its scan as something being wrong with PC ,its only a preferance of how you want your PC configured ! Version updates do not tell you what changes the update will make or abilities it will add ?
Overall Evaluation: This utility is probabltly one I could have done without and saved te $ for something else . I have freeware apps I downloaded that do as much or more at no charge ! Also I was under the assumption once I paid some $50 for app I would not have them picking my pocket every year to keep it running ,after all its not a multi function anti virus app like my Norton Utility/AntiVirus Suite ?

Weaknesses: Company management is unethical
Overall Evaluation: Purchased an upgrade through a rebate offer and they denied my rebate. They are using a rebate scam to sell thier product. Unethical business practices should be rewarded with no sales and ver bad reviews regardless of what is being sold. The world needs ethics not more crooks.

Strengths: A Lot to be seen what it can do... Do it a little at a time there is so much it can do..40 you chose to use check up programs to look for sometihng wrong
Weaknesses: To tempting to use all 40 the operting system check up and protecting operations.
Overall Evaluation: I have had it for 2 years now, It is the computer new bee but be ware of using the auto fix it opetion in all the fix ing functions it has to offer to you It does a ton of things to say the least I have had other repair programs in my 15 years wiith computers and tthis one is one I will KEEP . Don't expect this or any program to do the work of a PC shop if you are haveing trouble already.. And do not click all 40 check protect your system lines as soon as you get it and DO NOT click any thing to do it automaticly or IT WILL SLOW your system down on boot up. It even E mails you if you to let you know how your boot scan if somtthing was found in need of your looking into And DO NOT have it do it next time automaticly cause some of the fixes need a re boot and then you will have a little trouble

Strengths: Performs some optimization, but not enough to put up with the problems.
Weaknesses: Too many to list. Most annoying for me: 1) a total system crash after one recent update of the program, 2) having to reenter license information almost every time the program updates, 3) not being able to enter my license information after the most recent update, because the program declared my license information invalid even though it is less than one year old, and 4) tech support is lame and doesn't appear to read the explanations: I don't need to be told to read an online help page when I tell them I've already followed those suggestions.
Overall Evaluation: This program is not worth the money. Version 6 worked fine and caused no problems, but when I upgraded to version 7, I began having so many problems, I have had to delete and reinstall the program at least 3 times. The program is not ready for prime time. My recommendation: DO NOT BUY it.

Strengths: None
Weaknesses: I advise anyone AGAINST buying this product. I have v6 Pro and as soon as they came out with a new version, upgrades STOPPED. I don't mean upgrades to the program but also spyware and anti-virus updates. What good is an anti-spyware program if it isn't updated?
Overall Evaluation: A memory pig that does nothing that free programs don't do better. No updates once next version comes out.

Strengths: Not a blessed thing that I could find.
Weaknesses: Almost everything! It messed over too many legitimate programs and slowed the computer down to a standstill by tying up valuable resources. Tech support is rotten, blaming the trouble on other programs and not their own but once I removed it, voilâ, everything speeded up!
Overall Evaluation: I would not recommend this to anyone - in fact I'd warn them against trying it even it it was freeware. It seems that PC World is unable to find the time to actually adequately test software that it recommends. Makes one wonder if any of PC World's recommendations are valid.

Strengths: ABSOLUTELY NONE!! Whoever rated this was in a coma!!
Weaknesses: everything about this program is a problem and tech support will keep you coming and going for months-My mission is to stop their sales of this product-it is THAT bad!! Not only will you throw your money away on it-but you'll spend a great deal more trying to correct what it screwed up!!DON'T BUY IT-or even try it!! You'll be so sorry!
Overall Evaluation: It will find hundreds of problems on your computer!! It has a lovely element called "safety net" where you can reverse changes-Only it's odometer ALWAYS keeps track of NOTHING!! Made 500 changes to my registry-next time I ran it it said. "Run Registry optimizer"-NEVER BEEN RUN-if you try to reverse the 500 changes to your registry-it says"there are no actions to undo" What about those 500+ changes you just made to my registry?? huh??? You would have better results throwing your PC off of a tall building and "hoping" for a good result!! THAT is how bad this program is!!!

Overall Evaluation: Been trawling thru' "frequently asked question", the most obvious one being "PCWorld,how do I get my money back?", but they don't list that . Strange.....
