    Strengths: easy to use

Weaknesses: Weak or bad recovery success! No more than about 75% of files reanimated, FileWing did 100%!

Overall Evaluation: please use FileWing instead!!

    Strengths:

Weaknesses: The inclusion of chrome install and no justification (does Recuva) require it or is it a form of compensation for you? Following that is the quick switch to another product which is pandemic in this type of the bait and switch field. Finally is the sell for the PRO level of the product before I have had a chance to try it. My experience tells me to dump the whole thing - but since PCWorld recommends you so highly I will play along but I am nervous. I really want to get to know you but the first feeling is WATCHOUT.

    Weaknesses: none that I experienced

Overall Evaluation: worked like a charm recovering video that I had erased on my sony cybershot.

Strengths: Ease of use. Will scan any "mass storage device" attached to computer (external hard drives, card readers, printers that have storage, etc..). For my purposes performed exceptionally well.

Weaknesses: The ability to select multiple files. You either have to select all the files, or go through and check all your selections individually. Have to set your restoration location preference each time you use. Cannot go back to basic mode after switching to advance mode. Needs "key" to let you know what the colored dots preceding each found file means (in advance mode). Nothing major.

Overall Evaluation: Very good. Like a previous reviewer, I had accidentally deleted over 200 photos from my SD card, in my camera. I downloaded this program, than ran the "check for updates" so that I got the latest copy. I ran the program, which searched all the drives on my card reader, found the photos, and recovered to my hard drive. I immediately donated to the developers, as this product saved me some amount of grief.

Strengths: Successfully recovered files I deleted. Easy to use. Shows condition of deleted files before attempting to restore them. Displays preview of selected deleted file. To my surprise Recuva found not only my recently deleted files, but also many more from months ago.

Weaknesses: Not really weaknesses, but suggestions for improvement: It would be nice if it was easier to select multiple files, you can select ALL or NONE or click individual boxes. I'd like to use hold-shift to select multiple files at once. It would also be nice to be able to restore the files' original filenames as the first character seems to get changed upon deletion.

Overall Evaluation: I mistakenly deleted a bunch of photos from my camera's SD card. I downloaded an older version of Recuva, which restored some of the photos, but not others. I found a newer version of Recuva at the Piriform website and it worked flawlessly. I really like this develper's marketing model where I can use a fully functional product and then decide for myself whether to pay for it. I am very satisfied with Recuva and will go back to their site to make a PayPal payment.
