Strengths: erratic and unfinished uninstall
Weaknesses: same
Overall Evaluation: my pc is know curruped and icon wont uninstall.Furthermore my pc startup now has a "fix"(?) promp which also can't be removed.The Deval is in the mix and now I must reprogram my pc.

Strengths: Works o.k Had no problems downloading and installing
Weaknesses: Does not do as much as AdWare does. AdWare found things that it didn't
Overall Evaluation: If you reread their write up they do not say anything about AdWare jut Spybot why because it weak and just do not do good job. Yes it may run a little faster then AdWare but that may be because it is not looking for as much as AdWare.

Strengths: NONE--0---
Weaknesses: Have had several problems after installing this program. PC locks-up and had to reboot just to get windows back. ZONE ALARM STATES THIS PROGRAM HAS A TROGAN VIRUS AND OTHER MALWARE.
Overall Evaluation: Why would PC WORLD PUT A TERRIBLE PROGRAM LIKE THIS ONE ON DOWNLOAD LIST. I HAVE LOST FAITH IN PC WORLD AND AFTER ALL THE THINGS WRONG WITH THIS PROGRAM I WILL NOT TRUST PC WORLD DOWNLOAD AGAIN.

Strengths: Don't know, never got to use it
Weaknesses: a2 found it contained a trojan, same problem as craigkra had, so I deleted it.
Overall Evaluation: 9 of 11 reviews prior to mine gave it the lowest possible rating, as do I. It's been 2 weeks since the 1st report that it contains a trojan. Yet you guys are still promoting it, instead of removing it. And I can find no response to our complaints & alerts to you. What's up with that?

Strengths: Small footprint. Scans fast. File killer a great option.
Weaknesses: Realtime protection caused serious problems.
Overall Evaluation: Put this app on laptop and desktop. Laptop had visit from Dr. Watson. Desktop had BSOD on startup. NOTE: realtime protection still runs after program is uninstalled. Shut it down first and uninstall. Nearly killed my PCs.

Strengths:
Weaknesses: Does not display well. Apparently this app was not tested with a screen display using large fonts. I'm old and don't have the best eyes so I use large size (120 DPI) and the UI does not show all the text or buttons.
Overall Evaluation: If I have to change my system settings to use the app, I won't be using it.

Weaknesses: As in the case of two other revewers, my a2 anti-spyware program reported that the main executable file "shield.exe" is infected with (the extremely dangerous) trojan "Backdoor.Win32.mIRC-based.d"
Overall Evaluation: Well, given what I just related it isn't difficult to imagine that my evaluation is low, except for the possiblity of a2 having reported a false positive. PC World, I think you have to fulfull your responsibility here. Three people have now reported the same problem and there has been no response from you!! How about gettng a move on!!

Strengths: Nice Interface
Weaknesses: Ran a fast scan - 0 found - ran a full scan found -- adaware smart scan found 100 tracking cookies - As a spyware adware remover not very good. CCleaner - ad-aware - spybot all better tools. SpywareBlaster and Spybot do a good job of stopping the bad stuff before it gets to your drive.
Overall Evaluation: Not something I would recomend to my clients - unless I wanted to make lots of money returning to use proper well known tools. It's unfortunate that PCWorld would actually endorse such a useless tool. I personally would remove it from the top download list ...

Weaknesses: Norton passed it but a-2 also found the backdoor trojan
Overall Evaluation: I didn't install it because of the virus reading with my scanner. Could be a false positive but I won't take that chance. How about it PCWorld, since your recommended this program, is it virus free or not?

Strengths:
Weaknesses: After installing and running a scan, my f-secure had a malware/spyware protection malfunction. My system also would lockup and become non-responsive, so I removed this program and now my system runs great again. Becareful with the program.
Overall Evaluation: Not happy

Strengths: Finds spyware that AdAware and Spybot missed. Very fast scanning and allows selection of drives to scan.
Weaknesses: None found yet
Overall Evaluation: Very good compliment to your spyware arsenal. No problems installing, and the update facility was quick.

Strengths: Fast, easy interface
Weaknesses: None that I found so far
Overall Evaluation: There was no virus or malware in this file, This works fast, easy to set up. I use System Mechanic to check for SpyWare, and it does find them, Hazard Shield was quicker and used less system resources (system mechanic has habit of appearing to stop even though it's still working.

Strengths: Never got a chance to use it.
Weaknesses: Once I downloaded it, one of my antimalware programs found the Backdoor.Win32.mIRC-based.d Trojan. I went and downloaded it from the homepage...same thing.
Overall Evaluation: Too risky to try a program that contains potentially harmful malware.
