  Overall Evaluation: Have you ever brought up "Task Manager" and clicked on "CPU"? If you do you will probably see "System Idle Process" has the greatest value, most likely close to 100%. This indicates your computer is "idle", i.e. not doing any calculations, etc., that % of the time. Those "lost" cycles can be put to good use by installing BOINC with its broad range of projects. I have been involved with distributed computing since 2002, starting with SETI. When SETI went to the BOINC system, I did too. I am involved with 9 different projects under BOINC. One of the projects, WCG, has a number of sub-projects. I have never had any problems from BOINC. It is basically a set-it and forget-it operation. Check it out at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/.
