    Strengths: If you need to do something there is a program here that can do it.

    Weaknesses: English Documentation is lacking.

    Overall Evaluation: AngryIPScanner is not a Trojan! To quote their website (http://www.angryziber.com): "Angry IP Scanner (or simply ipscan) is an open-source and cross-platform network scanner designed to be fast and simple to use. It scans IP addresses and ports as well as has many other features. It is widely used by network administrators and just curious users around the world, including large and small enterprises, banks, and government agencies." It does not self-install and does not transmit your info across the internet. If you do not need a port scanner - just delete it from the package. Many anti-virus companies report it as a virus because they take a "better safe than sorry" approach.

    Duration of ownership: 5 Months

    Strengths: It's Portable!!!! :) It's like having a computer on a pen drive. :) FREE! MANY Language options. Not just Italian and English. Both English and Italian support forums. Prompt support. :) Just came out with a new version with many updates. :) Can come prepacked with applications or you can "build" your own.

    Weaknesses: NOT really meant for beginner users. Use the .exe file download for easier setup. If not, Do read the setup files on the web site. Some of the best information is in Italian, but just run it thru Google's translator and you'll be fine. :) Or, take the opportunity to learn Italian! ;) Yes, the web site is only in Italian and English. (there's a button to flip between the languages.)

    Overall Evaluation: WOW! I love it. Very stable. Fast, easy to use. Can use it on the go for when you don't want to lug around a computer. Just find a friend's/library/spare computer and plug in! Also, perfect for any IT person trying to diagnose a strange computer. MANY different applications e.g. calendars that accept iCal formats, Firefox, OpenOffice.org 3, web server, music, file sync, photo editing, computer diagnostics... you name it. FREE! Also! DO read the information boxes when they appear. The designers didn't just add a lot of "fluff" in their boxes. It Really Is Important Information. :)

    Strengths: Probably a good program BUT!!! it has inbeddded AngryIPScanner which probes for vulnerabilities and weakensses in the HOST COMPUTER. WHY ??????

    Overall Evaluation: A TROJAN HORSE PROGRAM. Why has PCWORLD permitted this type of TROJAN HoRSE activity?

    Strengths: Good reviews in PCW and elsewhere.

    Weaknesses: Don't know yet. Just downloaded.

    Overall Evaluation: Previous reviews have complained that the web site is in Italian. That is true, the default home page is in Italian. HOWEVER, if you look carefully, near the top right hand of the home page is a box labeled "lingua" (that's "language"), with a drop down box that allows you to select either Italian or ENGLISH. No problem for us English speakers if we look. I'll post more after I've actually used the software.

    Weaknesses: Difficult to install - directions poor to non existent

    Overall Evaluation: Downloaded twice each extraction had a problem. No proper instructions or directions, on either installing or using.

    Overall Evaluation: I think as soon as you can NAVIGATE their website it will be a good product!
