PCWorld Digital Magazine - Enhanced Android Edition

Q: I have an Android tablet. How do I get PCWorld?

We recommend the Enhanced Android Edition for Android 4.4 or higher. Search the Google Play app store for PCWorld Digital Magazine (U.S.) and download the app for free.

By purchasing the PCWorld Digital All-Access Pass for $19.97 annually (pcworld.com/subscribe), you get access to PCWorld on any device—both the PCWorld Enhanced Edition and the Replica Edition and on as many devices as you choose. Just login with your registered email address and password.

Alternatively, the Enhanced edition can be purchased as a monthly recurring subscription for $1.99, or a single copy for $6.99 through the PCWorld Digital Magazine (U.S.) interactive app in Google Play.

We also offer a non-interactive, replica edition that can be purchased directly through Kindle, Play or Nook on their respective newsstands.

Q:  What's the difference between the PCWorld Enhanced Android Edition, the replica through Zinio and the Replica edition of PCWorld sold on the Google Play newsstand?

The PCWorld Enhanced Edition provides more interactivity with in-screen video play and audio files and can be purchased through our site. For more information about the Enhanced Edition and all the available PCWorld subscription options, visit: pcworld.com/magazines.

The Replica Edition available through Zinio contains links and flip page animation and is included in your Digital All-Access Pass subscription. You'll need to activate the subscription and register with the same email through Zinio to access your issues. See the Android question below on how to download the replica edition that is included in your All-Access Pass subscription, or locate your device at pcworld.com/directions and select Replica for instructions.

Replica editions found on Google Play, Kindle and Nook newsstands are without active links and are purchased directly through those companies. These are static editions that support pinch and zoom and both landscape and portrait reading.

Q: How do I download and install the PCWorld Digital Magazine (U.S.) app on my Android Tablet?

For detailed instructions that include pictures, visit pcworld.com/subscribe/free-android.

Q: How do I get my digital issues?

We will send you an email notification as each new issue becomes available. Depending on your app and/or software preferences, the PCWorld Enhanced Android Edition will download your issues automatically, or you can retrieve them at your convenience by visiting your library from within the app.

In your library, simply tap the download button under any issue, and the issue will begin to download. You can begin reading any issue once it is downloaded.

Q: Do I need to be connected to the Internet to read my issues?

No, you need to be connected only when you download issues.

Q: Can I read my digital version of PCWorld anywhere?

Yes. All our digital editions are designed for reading offline once issues have been downloaded. After you download the issue, you no longer need to be within range of Wi-Fi, and you can enjoy PCWorld wherever you’d like. An Internet connection is required for some interactive features, however.

Q:  How do I navigate the digital issue?

You can explore your PCWorld Enhanced Android Edition issue page by page or skip around. Swipe across with one finger to turn one page at a time, or swipe with two fingers to quickly jump among sections. Alternatively, you can press and hold your finger on the screen or tap the upper-right corner to bring up the contents list and the thumbnail preview at the bottom. From there you can tap to jump among sections.

Q: How do I use bookmarks in the magazine on my Android tablet?

To bookmark a page, you create a favorites list. Tap the star icon in upper-right corner of the page, a Favorites window will appear. Hit the + in the right corner and the page will be added. All bookmarks that you've set for an issue appear under the Favorites button on the navigation bar, which appears when you tap the star icon.

Q: Can I pinch and zoom on the Enhanced Edition?

No, unfortunately pinch and zoom is not available on the Enhanced Edition.

However, pinch and zoom capabilities are found in the Replica Edition of PCWorld. Our replica edition is available through us with our Digital All-Access Pass. Go to to our Directions page for instructions. Our replica editions can also be purchased through Google Play, Kindle and Nook newsstands.

However, the Replica Edition of PCWorld supports reading in both landscape and in portrait mode. Q: How much disk space does a typical issue consume?

When you download an issue, its file size is approximately 50MB to 100MB depending on the resolution of the device.

Q: Will digital archives be available? If so, will there be a charge to access the archives?

Q:  Can I transfer my subscription to another device?

We’re sorry to hear that some users are experiencing crashing and download problems. For best performance, shut down any other apps running in the background. If problems persist, go to Settings/Apps/PCWorld/Storage, tap Clear Cache and/or Clear Data. Clearing data will require you to login again. Also try to force-quit the app and then reopen it. If you're still having trouble, try turning your device off and then turning it back on. Lastly, try deleting and reinstalling the app. If none of those solutions work, please contact us for assistance and include as much information about your device and OS.
