With HP wireless printers, you could have printed this from any room in the house. Live wirelessly. Print wirelessly.

Epson America has introduced two new inkjet printers. One's aimed at consumers and supports both Windows and Macintosh systems, while the other is a multifunction device that works independently of a computer.

Budget Photo Printer

The USB-equipped Stylus Photo R200 sports a street price of $99, and features a six-color photo ink system with separate tanks for each color. The printer outputs up to 5760 by 1440 dots per inch. It prints at up to 15 pages per minute and can output a 4-by-6 inch photo in 37 seconds.

The R200 also supports Epson's vaunted PRINT Image matching technology, which provides more accurate color print output from digital cameras. The printer also supports Exif 2.2 metadata.

The R200 works with a wide variety of papers, including Epson's various photo papers, semigloss, and much more. It also supports direct printing on inkjet-printable CD-R and DVD-R media.

No System Required

The $349 RX600 is a new multifunction device that scans, prints, and copies photos, all without a computer. Like the R200, the RX600 outputs at up to 5760 by 1440 dpi and uses six ink tanks.

The device sports its own 2.5-inch color display and a memory-card slot that works with CompactFlash, SD, SmartMedia, MMC, xD-Picture Card, Memory Stick, and other flash media types. Users can both download from and upload images to the flash media. A front-mounted USB port also accepts external drives for additional connectivity. The printer incorporates software that enables users to adjust image color, output proof sheets, and more.

The scanner supports 2400-by-4800 pixel 48-bit scans and incorporates its own transparency adapter, so it can be used for photos, printed matter, or slides and negatives. Users can scan multiple photos simultaneously--the RX600 identifies each photo to create individual prints.

Compatible with Macs and Windows computers, the RX600 features a USB 2.0 interface.
