Pentax is adding four new models to its Optio line of digital cameras in September.

Three of the new models--the Optio S5i, Optio X, and Optio S50--offer 5-megapixel resolution, while the fourth, the Optio 750Z, offers 7-megapixel resolution. All four use Secure Digital flash media to store images.

Pentax has not announced pricing for any of the cameras, but pricing will be available upon the cameras' release in September.

Camera Specs

The Optio S5i features a 3X optical zoom lens and a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery. It also offers a new Sport mode that increases the shutter speed for action shots and a Pan Focusing mode that optimizes the focus when moving between close-ups and long-range photos.

At 0.7 of an inch thick, the Optio X is the thinnest model in the Optio line. It also offers 3Xoptical zoom but features a two-inch LCD display, a sliding lens system that retracts the lens as soon as its power is turned off, and a new a??My Menua?? function that saves customized settings for future use.

The Optio S50 includes a 3X optical zoom lens, 13 shooting modes, compatibility with PictBridge-enabled printers, a 12-bit A/D converter that smoothes color gradations, and the ability to run off two AA batteries or one Lithium battery.

Finally, the Optio 750Z features 10 shooting modes, a 5X optical zoom lens, PictBridge compatibility, and the capacity to capture as much video at 30fps in 640 by 480 resolution as its SD memory card allows.
