| Description | Display the heavens on your PC. Like a planetarium, SkyMap can draw a map of the sky, as seen from any place on Earth, for any date between 4000 B.C. and 8000 A.D. It displays stars, planets, comets, deep-sky objects, and constellation names and figures. You can get detailed information about any object on a map, and you can print high-quality charts.
SkyMap lets you shift your field of view, so you can gaze with awe at the entire visible sky or you can track down a faint galaxy with the program's "finder chart." The program has been in development for over fifteen years. This demo, a fraction of the size of the 550MB full version, includes a small database of 30,000 stars and 10,000 deep-sky objects. It runs from your hard disk, occupying 15MB of space when installed. |
