| Description | If you use instant messaging only with your MySpace friends, you may be interested in MySpace's new IM software and service. With MySpaceIM, you can send and receive instant messages (just like with AIM, Yahoo, etc.), but you also get some MySpace-specific features. This beta software and service promise fast login to e-mail and bulletins. MySpaceIM claims to add the "instant" to more than messages with alerts for all requests, messages, and comments. This download is necessary for accessing the MySpaceIM service.
When I gave the beta a test-drive on its first day, MySpaceIM arrived with one pre-existing contact, MySpace co-founder Tom Anderson. Tom's account appeared to be running a script with vocabulary limited to "woo!" Although options for visual customization abound (fonts, backgrounds, skins, etc.), user photos weren't working at launch time. Note: This is beta software. The vendor takes no responsibility for any problems encountered due to its use. --Laura Blackwell |
