Manufacturer’s Description

Intended for Enterprise and Service Provider use, Cisco's PIX 525 Firewall has a 600 MHz CPU, delivers a throughput of 370 Mbps and has the ability to handle as many as 280,000 simultaneous sessions. It has (2) integrated ports for 10/100BaseT Fast Ethernet network connections, (3) PCI slots and an RS-232 failover port. The PIX 525 Firewall's built-in IPSec encryption enables site-to-site and remote access VPN deployments for secure private communications over the Internet or any IP network. The PIX 525 provides stateful connection-oriented firewalling based on the Adaptive Security Algorithm (ASA), which tracks the source and destination address of all TCP/IP sessions and permits passage through the firewall only if appropriate connections exist to validate that passage. The PIX 525 offers higher performance and is more scalable than application-level proxy firewalls. Its hardened operating system protects both your network and the device itself. For secure data encryption, the PIX 525 supports both 56-bit and 168-bit Triple Data Encryption Standard (DES/ 3DES) algorithms. The PIX 525 integrates the key features of VPN - tunneling, data encryption, security, and firewalling - to provide a secure, scalable platform that cost-effectively accommodates remote access, remote office, and extranet connectivity using public data services. The PIX 525 Firewall offers unsurpassed reliability, with a mean time between failure (MTB) of more than 60,000 hours. It supports a broad range of NICs, including single-port or four-port 10/100 Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, 4/16 Token Ring and dual-attached multimode FDDI cards.Designed for large enterprises, the PIX 525 with an unrestricted license (PIX-525-UR-BUN) supports (8) 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports and provides additional support for stateful failover to a backup PIX firewall.
