The Red Hat Network â?" Proxy Model is a type of RHN architecture where customer's individual systems connect to a locally hosted (on the customer network) RHN Proxy. The Proxy aggregates the necessary data, performs selected tasks locally, and communicates via the Internet with the central Red Hat Network (RHN) servers. It features a simple Web User Interface that simplifies systems management, an API Access Layer that enables easy integration of RHN using command line scripts or scripted information from other applications into your existing infrastructure. With the Hosted Database Repository, it is easy to store information about your systems, policies and profiles on the RHN database. The Proxy also lets you create custom channels for distribution through RHN, and even manages all your outbound and inbound connections between RHN and your systems through a single system port.
