Sony SDM-HS74P Review

- The Sony SDM-HS74P has the same elegant curves, glassy screen, and cord-concealing back cover as its predecessor, the SDM-HS73, but it also offers a digital input and improved graphics performance. When we tested the SDM-HS74P using its digital video interface, it treated our jury to the richest colors and sharpest detail we've seen from a 17-inch monitor recently--a slam-dunk for an Outstanding graphics rating. Though a few testers noted jaggies on the Microsoft Word screens, the text remained highly readable; the monitor's overall text rating was also Outstanding.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Super bright picture, awesome colors, no ghosting, great price.

Weaknesses: You can barely see a grid when really up close, no problem if you sit at least a foot away from it.

Overall Evaluation: Best monitor I've had to date, LCD or CRT. Super bright picture and great looking colors. Games look really good with it's fast response time (been playing CS & BF2 on it for a while). Wonderful for movies as well, great picture quality. This is just such a great value, I recommend it to any sort of PC user, gamer, movie watcher, or graphic designer.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Sits almost anywhere , light as a feather. Great bightness enhancer , as well.

    Weaknesses: None.

Overall Evaluation: Another great product from sony. I can even watch HDTV from my DVI out on my satellite receiver. I aslo like having my PC hooked into the hd15 while having my mac utilizing the dvi port and instantly switch back and forth between inputs.
