Reviewed by: MarknFL07-13-07 Duration of ownership: 22 Months Strengths: As the article says, it has it all with the printer, fax, copier, and scanner. The network connection is a great plus. The software is easy to use. Weaknesses: The document feed is junk. I have had more faxes jam in the take up as well as trying to copy or scan multiple pages. I had to take that apart several times to make it work. the mechanism is to light and fragile in design. In usual HP reliability, it died at 22 months. All lights flashing upon turning it on, and of course, warranty is gone. Just like the OfficeJet G85 I had, it runs about 2 years and dies. These are nothing like the old HP LaserJets that were the workhorse of the document world. This is probably the last HP I will own. Overall Evaluation: I doubt I ever own another HP based on how this one died at 22 months for no reason. G85 - fool me once. 7210 - fool me twice. Cost to fix? More than to buy a new and better printer. HP's recomendation? They will upgrade me to a 7310 for only $299. The problem is that the 7310 has equally bad reviews on it. http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/printers/m/4215713/discussions/ Consider any HP equipment you buy to be temporary disposable equipment to use for the warranty period only. If you are expecting long lasting equipment, that HP is long gone. |

Reviewed by: painkillerrob10-06-06 Duration of ownership: 2 Months Strengths: I still love it i'ts grrrr eat, i'd buy another one anytime Weaknesses: none Overall Evaluation: Just a great all in one I'd buy another one, If i had enough too. We liked the 7210's print quality and performance. True to its office designation, it printed very attractive text. Large fonts were dark and solid, and all but the finest italics came out sharp and well formed. Our prints of color graphics on plain paper showed good detail and contrast. With the photo cartridge in place, the 7210 printed glossy photographs with bright colors, smooth color transitions, and sharp detail. |

Reviewed by: Julie09-21-06 Duration of ownership: 3 Months Strengths: Fast, easy setup. Overall great all-in-one Weaknesses: None Overall Evaluation: The installation was so easy and it only took me 15mins to get going. I have had no problems at all. The printing of pictures are crisp and clear. Networking was super easy to get setup too. I have no ideas why people are having such hard times with this product. I love it! All you have to do is check out the manual when you have a concern, it's just tjhat easy. |

Reviewed by: MarknFLUpdated: 13-Jul-07 Strengths: All in One, everything there. While some dislike the software, it worked fine for me and I liked how well it installed. Of course, I had the G85 before and it was a nightmare. Network is great. Weaknesses: All in one, if one thing fails, it is trash. Doc feeder is too frail and jams frequently. I had to work on it several times. The 7210 died at 22 months and is now trash. Overall Evaluation: Good points:__Networking worked well and seamlessly. Running both network and USB connections had no issue, other than the USB connection could not be found about 20% of the time.__I liked the software. The scanning was easy. The OCR worked well. Pictures scanned well. Printing was good. __Pictures printed well, with good color and clarity. __I liked scanning pictures. The thing would even do real one-button scanning, which the old Officejet G85 promised but couldn't do. __The fax worked well in the beginning, but we did have a few problems getting it to connect and go through a month ago. Also, it had issues picking up lately.__HP Chat was always available. ______________Weak Points: Reliability. That is something HP meant years ago with LaserJet. We have a 13 year old LaserJet that still runs, after countless cases of paper through it.__The 7210 is too fragile and frail to be real. I'm afraid I'll break it each time I open the printer to replace ink cartridges. Abou... |

Reviewed by: alanfcoxUpdated: 05-Jun-07 Strengths: All you need in one piece of equipment Weaknesses: If you have a problem you can loose everything Overall Evaluation: I purchased the HP 7210 because I thought that I would get quality and service - how wrong can you be. The printer is just 18 months old and has a page count of 1320 and is only used for light domestic use. Recently I started getting an error message indicating that "the cartridges were not intended for this printer" - I did think that this was a little strange as it had functioned perfectly on these cartridges for some months. Thinking that the cartridges were at the end of their life I changed them and this rectified the problem for 2 pages when the message appeared again. I thought that I may have had faulty cartridges so I changed them again only to experience the same problem. I then went through the HP Help Desk who told me to clean the contacts and reset the printer - when this didn't work I was told to change the cartridges again. When this didn't work I was informed that it was a hardware problem and that I should contact a Premium Rate Help Line. Real... |

Reviewed by: WhyNeedNameToReviewUpdated: 19-Oct-06 Strengths: Network-connected printer/fax/scanner Weaknesses: SCANNING! and software in general. Overall Evaluation: I agree with the comments about bloated software and especially scanning and the poor support by HP. I finally figured out the problem on my own (not sure if this will help anyone else): HP Director's scan program is incompatible with Symantec/Norton's firewall. If (and ONLY IF) I disable Norton's firewall protection temporarily can I get the scanner to work. Now about the bloated software... have you seen the size of those modules?! And you can tell when you try to use it - press a button and light a cigarette (or go for coffee, etc.). Nuff said. Hope this helps someone. |

Reviewed by: ontar5Updated: 02-Oct-06 Strengths: Good concept. Has everything you need. Weaknesses: Short life span Overall Evaluation: I am on my second 7210. First one had the faxboard go in less than one year. It was replaced under the warranty. Now the second one - which is 7 month's old is constantly flashing an error message either that the ink cartridges are not compatible with the printer - which they are (new HP's own brand) or all the light are flashing and there is an error: 0x07d 54dd6. I have done everything that HP support has suggested and everytime within the hour of getting off the phone the printer is in an error condition again. btw I just hung up after waiting on hold for over 30 minutes for a support rep. I am hoping this time they will relent and replace this one too! |

Reviewed by: dtcincyUpdated: 16-Sep-06 Strengths: when it works it works well Weaknesses: unusable becouse of repeated paper jams Overall Evaluation: do NOT get HP. This is the second and last time for me--first one also paper jam problems. They have settled class action suits over this but problems remain. |
