Strengths: Easy setup, fast printing

Weaknesses: High cost for cartridges

Overall Evaluation: This is a pretty decent low-end photo printer: the price is acceptable, it is easy to set up, and it prints pretty fast with good quality. However, the ink cartridges are pretty small and quite expensive. To me, the printer is good for some casual photo printing (means it is not for printing photos regularly).

Strengths: StylishFaster than our previous HP printer

Weaknesses: Still not as fast as a laser printer

Overall Evaluation: We bought this along with our new laptop because we found a rebate deal through HP, and after rebate it only cost us $20. For that price, how could we complain about anything?! Even so, it's much faster and sleeker-looking than our previous HP inkjet (DeskJet 930C). We haven't tried printing directly from our camera yet, or installed the special photo ink cartridge. So far, though, even the standard photo printing looks at least as good as what we got off the old printer so we look forward to trying the photo cartridge as well.

Strengths: Price

Weaknesses: Jams continuously...

Overall Evaluation: Bought this printer with basic everyday uses in mind. Did not want to do much photo printing as I use a web service for that function. The HP 5440 has jammed continuously since I purchased it. Would not recommend unless you enjoy daily frustration.

Strengths: fast and clear print for the price

Weaknesses: jams

Overall Evaluation: prints quickly for the price of the printer. i got $50 bundle rebate so it was good price and good quality for that price for me. just OK for photo prints, but not bad.

Strengths: Prints fast text and color prints from websites but kind of a waste of good ink considering it's a photo printer.Small - takes up little space vertically

Weaknesses: OK as a photo printer but not great.Printing phots drains the ink FAST.

Overall Evaluation: Good results on HP paper with photos. Kind of slow. I guess for the price, it's a really good deal. You're at the mercy of HP for ink. But the prices are not outrageous.
