Duration of ownership: 2 Years

Strengths: Don't buy Qosmio series from Toshiba, I can give you proof if you message me (sales receipt some pictures) . I would like nothing more then to make a impact on somebody considering on buying from Toshiba. Stick with your Desktop then with this cash burner that will malfunction shortly after the warranty does.

Weaknesses: -Huge Laptop, (larger then I had thought) -Very noisy fan or fans -Hot -The laptop scratches easily -About 5 burned out pixels right out of the box (new) -A lemon (again the F-15) Do a google search. The Nvidia Graphics chip that is soldered on overheats and makes the whole motherboard a complete pile of junk. -Speakers sounded terrible after 3 months of use -Battery life is awful. After 1 year of use the windows battery warning comes on after 5 minutes of being unplugged. -infrared only works with remote, not a true Infrared that can work with other devices -Heavy -Very poor customer support unless you plan to call overseas.

Overall Evaluation: WARNING This comment is for all Qosmio Laptops. I just got rid of my Toshiba F-15 AV-201 paper weight at the huge technology mall: Pantip Plaza, in Bangkok Thailand for 1,000 baht equivalent of $32.00 USD. Bought the Laptop NEW for $2,599.95 from CDW a couple years back. Well 1 Year and some change the Main Board fried, something to do with the embedded Nvidia graphics chip. A TRUE lemon. The Toshiba repair shop in Thailand said that the quality of parts on the Motherboard is not good in the U.S. and I should have bought it in Thailand. Now I am on a mission to let every one now about Toshiba. Just go to there web site and see if it is easy or not to contact customer support. No mention of this anywhere, just one big cover up. Vertical lines on the screen? not this laptop!!! P.S. I am on a crusade to let every one now about this lemon from Toshiba.

Strengths: great sound and excellent picture quality

Weaknesses: somewhat large and heavy but it was purchased as a desktop replacement and it is perfect for us.

Overall Evaluation: We have had such an enjoyable experience with the toshiba qosmio. Prior to this we had a dell desktop that was 7 years old and we were having so many problems with it. It was slow and cumbersome to work with. The qosmio was the perfect unit as we wanted something tat would be large enough to compare to a desk top but we wanted to bring it RV'ing with us.

Strengths: - Brilliant screen, Sounds Excellent w/quick controls, Finger Print scanner worked 100% no prob till TOTAL HD CRASH

Weaknesses: Toshiba Warranty Services has me waiting now 2 weeks with not one response or answer to who is going to warranty.

Overall Evaluation: I had my G35 only 4 days in the middle of my first total hands on major motion picture job with Brad Pitt / my ?big break? and why I bought the Toshiba when the hard drive started making narly sounds during the large file BACK UP transfer I had spent all day for the clients working on and it suddenly locked up. (Needless to say final outcome was the whole job was lost & I had to rebuild all from scratch?.!) It would not shut down during any normal procedures making noise all the time trying having me no choice but to force shut it down. It never would reboot after that. So now 2 weeks later I am still knee deep the red tape, 3+ hours on the phone with seller and Toshiba on hold and transfers with still know one willing to authorize a replacement, refund or even repair. It is a legitimate Toshiba SN product but still no help at all to date.

Strengths: 17" wide screen, Fingerprint Reader, Build-in TV-tuner, 802.11 A/B/G + bluetooth, Two 80GB hardrives and more

Weaknesses: Weights almost 11 pounds and has high fingerprint reader failure rate

Overall Evaluation: This has everything I was looking for in a laptop. Fingerprint Reader, Built-in TV-tuner, 802.11 A/B/G + Bluetooth, Two 80GB hard drives with RAID support, DVD DL drive and most of all it has the latest Duo Processor. Unfortunately, only thing is missing is built-in webcam like Sony VAIO AR150G. Another weakness is that sometimes you have to scan your finger 3-4 times before it accepts your fingerprint scan. It is an expensive desktop replacement but is worth it.

Strengths: Beautiful screen; Built-in TV tuner; Easy setup for television viewing; Volume control dial

Weaknesses: Big and heavy, High fingerprint reader failure rate; Not great for gaming; Interior prone to noticeable fingerprints, smudges and dust

Overall Evaluation: The strengths are many. This is certainly the best computer I have owned or even used. I really like the volume control dial on right hand side. It is a very nice feature to have. The size and weight of this computer is much greater than any other notebook PC I have handled. This is truly a desktop replacement. It is quite heavy to use during travel. I purchased the Zero Halliburton case designed for 15" to 17" Toshiba notebooks. This model did not fit in the case. There was no way for me to squeeze it in. It is not possible to use this case without cutting out the interior of the case. Unfortunately, in my experience, this PC has a high fingerprint reader failure rate. The fingerprint reader fails about 3 out of 5 times, which means you have to swipe your finger between a few and several times before it is read successfully. I wanted a notebook computer with a built-in fingerprint reader. Despite my disappointment in its performance. I am still pleased that it has one...
