Overall Evaluation: This is a review of the review. Caught 79% of unknown malware using 1 month old signature files? Who uses 1 month old sigs? I sure as hell don't! Caught 90% of everything but fared bad with 32-bit viruses? HUH? What version NOD32 were you testing? Why not compair apples to apples and oranges to oranges instead of putting all your results in a bag and shaking? I though malware was everything not classified as a virus or a trojan. So it gets rather confusing when throwing percentages around with no clear labels.

Strengths: 1. Speed 2. Set it and forget it 3. Stability 4. customer Service (a bit slow, but great)
Weaknesses: UI not as "pretty" as the rest
Overall Evaluation: PC World's reviewer's opinion of an overly technical interface is, I think, stretching for it a bit. The UI is admittedly not as intuitive or as easy on the eyes as Mcaffee or Norton, but it well within the average user's (me) ease of use. My old computer with XP and NOD32 finally crashed and burned. After I purchased my new computer with Vista installed on it, I downloaded NOD32's Vista version by contacting their customer service(via e-mail) and retrieving my current password and account name. I believe Norton charges extra for that service. With both of my most recent computer's I replaced Norton with NOD32. On both machines Norton crashed and generated error messages...NOD32 doesn't. Norton many times requires re-boot...NOD32 doesn't. Norton slowed both computers noticably...NOD32 doesn't. As far as which VS actually works best, I rely on PC World's experts...and it looks like a toss-up

Strengths: Powerful engine and heuristics capability, high speed scan process, low resources consumption, fast response time and daily updates
Weaknesses: None
Overall Evaluation: A powerful virus protection software. I have tested Symantec, McAfee, Kaspersky, BitDefender, Avira, and Norman protection softwares but only Eset NOD32 proved to be reliable and compatible with other security softwares. With scanning speed, it is the fastest with low memory usage and never bug down. Detection response time is also fast and with daily update, you can be sure that you are protected from pests.

Strengths: Ease of installation, excellent customer service, efficient background operation, effective protection
Weaknesses: Bit of a hassle to activate
Overall Evaluation: After reading all of the great performance information on several websites, I decided to give it a try. Before installation, you must enter information online to receive a username and password. I must have had a keyboard error, as it was necessary to contact customer service. After waiting 20 minutes, I called (local phone number) and spoke with a very nice CSR who emailed the necessary information and I was good to go. From there, installation was a breeze. Once 2.7 was installed, I was able to download the latest version (3.0) from the website. NOD32 found 4 viruses (2 java Trojans) that AVG 7.5 apparently missed.

Strengths: Small program, runs quietly without much interference, constant updates
Weaknesses: Yearly cost, may take a little time to learn since the interface since it's a little different
Overall Evaluation: Great antivirus program, perhaps the best out there right now. I had not heard of this program before a year or so ago. Two huge positives are: Constant definitions updates and it's a small program that uses little memory so it doesn't slow down your computer. The overall interface is a little different than what I was used to but once you learn it it's pretty easy. The only main drawback is you do have to pay every year for their service. Of course, this is a quality program so you should expect to pay. I wish it was a little cheaper but I realize they have to make money as well. It may be hard for those who use a "free" antivirus to find value in a "subscription" service, but if you feel like your free one isn't cutting it and you need to buy one, this is the one to get.

Strengths: fast, small memory footprint, consuming minimal system resource
Weaknesses: none so far
Overall Evaluation: I've used symantec anti-virus, McAfee over the years and finally found nod32 to be a very satisfactory replacement. Nod32 does not slow down your system like Symantec or McAfee. And you don't need to buy a multi-core system, in which one core is typically completely occupied by symantec or McAfee.Look for "light-weight antivirus" on google and you will see the majority of the users are happy about nod32.Malware protection not an issue, as one can always use the free windows defender

Strengths: Doesn't bog down system like other antivirus programs.Daily updates of virus signature files.
Weaknesses: None, so far as I can tell.
Overall Evaluation: I've used Symantec Norton SytemWorks, Antivirus, McAfee, Microsoft Windows Live OneCare, and Eset's NOD32 V2.7 has been the best in my humble opinion, for various reasons. I also use Sunbelt's Counterspy V2 for Spyware detection. So with the combination of these two products, I feel well protected. I also do NOT consider NOD32's user interface to be overly technical.
Eset NOD32 Review
- When it comes to proactive protection, Eset's NOD32 was the hands-down winner in "Virus Stoppers," our eight-program antivirus roundup. In our tests, it caught 79 percent of unknown malware samples when using one-month-old signature files. The next-closest program, BitDefender Antivirus 10, came in with a distant 61 percent.
