WorldBench 5.0 Publishing Guidelines

Rules for companies and individuals for publishing WorldBench test results and scores.

All companies and individuals that publish WorldBench scores not produced by PC World must adhere to the following requirements. unless otherwise agreed in writing by PC World.

1) Only scores that are composites of three or more runs are to be published. These composite lines are indicated in the Database/Results View by the words WB Score in the System ID field.

2) Save all WorldBench log files and provide them to the PC World Test Center if requested.

3) Read and adhere to the License Agreement, including item number 5, which is included below.

Excerpt from the License Agreement:

5. Publication of Benchmark Results. You are authorized to publish and republish benchmark testing results obtained through proper operation of the Software, except in any country where a third party claims during the term of this license that such publication infringes that party's proprietary rights, subject to the following conditions:

You must clearly identify the benchmark test results in substantially the following manner: "Tests conducted by [your name] using WorldBench Version 5.__. WorldBench is a trademark of International Data Group, Inc. Test results have not been verified by PC World, and neither PC World nor International Data Group, Inc. makes any representations or warranties as to the accuracy of the test results." This legend must be prominently displayed in close proximity to the printed test results.

You must publish in close proximity to the printed test results the following specifications of the computer system on which the Software was run:

  • System brand and model;
  • Brand, model, and MHz of the CPU;
  • Motherboard and chipset;
  • HDD, RAID, etc.
  • Amount and type of RAM;
  • Name and version of operating system (including service packs);
  • Brand and model of graphics adapter;
  • Amount and type of video RAM;

You may publish results only if the benchmark tests were conducted in accordance with the procedures and guidelines specified in the Software.

Upon PC World's written request, whether before or after publication or display of advertising or other materials referring to benchmark test results of the WorldBench trademark, you will provide PC World with (i) copies of such advertising or other materials, and (ii) information (including information relating to the configuration of the computer system tested and log files from the benchmark testing) relating to the tests referred to in such advertising or other materials.

Upon PC World's written request, you will make available to PC World's Test Facility a computer system in the configuration used to produce the published benchmark test results, and will cooperate with PC World to allow PC World to verify whether the published test results are accurate. If PC World determines that the published test results do not accurately reflect the operation of the Software on the computer system in question, you will correct its advertising and issue such retractions or corrections as are appropriate in the circumstances.
