Strengths: none
Weaknesses: print heads clog constantly. difficult to line up for cartridge change. jams frequently. feeds multiple pages at once often. poor printout quality. bulky.
Overall Evaluation: This is the worst printer I've ever owned. I have generally been happy with Epson products but I would advise anyone to avoid this printer at all costs.

Strengths: None
Weaknesses: When the ink cartridges get half full or less you must clean the heads between everything your print (and that uses up ink) or it will not print or prints quality is very poor.
Overall Evaluation: I would never buy an epson product again. purchased it in November and had to send back to the company twice for new printers because of printing problems. plus the above weakness is that at 50$ or more for both ink cartridges that you can only use until they are half empty and then the print quality becomes very very poor. I would not recomment this product to anyone and I my self would never buy an epson printer again.

Strengths: Nice print if the heads aren't clogged
Weaknesses: Heads are almost always clogged
Overall Evaluation: This is a nice printer that can do a nice print. But just like every other printer from Epson, you just can not rely on the heads to print. I would not have purchased this other than it was packaged with a computer and was free. And quite frankly it is proved the Epson case I have experienced - use it regularly or kiss the print quality and the cartridges good bye.

Strengths: Quick change out for cartridges, I like the ink level readouts
Weaknesses: none so far
Overall Evaluation: The Epson Photo820 works well in combination with my software. The pictures are clear and crisp (when I take them that way). The ink does resist water, but don't push your luck, it will run if exposed long enough. The printer does use quite a bit of ink when printing color photos but is comparable with my old HP840C. It installed without a hitch on windows XP which is good. Some printers don't. So far I have not had to clean the heads and can go 5 to 6 days without printing and still not gum up the heads. For the money, a great printer

Strengths: Better than photo quality!
Weaknesses: Uses a lot of ink.
Overall Evaluation: Upgraded from epson 640 to 820 photo printer. I printed the same picture using the same software on many printers, including some dye subliminal printers. Nothing could compare to the 820 quality. 820 is quieter than the 640. It prints fast at 720 dpi but at 2880 dpi it is slow. It uses a lot of ink at the 2880 high resolution. Ink cartridges can be refilled but you need to reset the chip on the cartridge using a 3rd party reseter or spoof the printer. See http://www.inksupply.com/index.cfm?source=html/chipreset.html on how to do this.
