Panasonic PV-DV702 Review
- The PV-DV702 is one of the larger and more expensive camcorders we've tested, but it comes with plenty of features that justify its size and cost. For instance, in addition to its ability to record video to MiniDV tapes, it can serve as a Webcam through its USB 1.1 or FireWire connection. It can also record still images to the bundled 8MB Secure Digital card at a resolution of up to 1600 by 1200 pixels--that's the same resolution you'd get from a 2-megapixel still camera, though in our experience the image quality is not as good as that of the typical dedicated still camera.

Weaknesses: POOR QUALITY
Overall Evaluation: Camcorder had very little use failed within the first year of ownership, cost 171.00 for labor to repair withPanasonic. After repair camera was used for approximately 3 hours over the next year based on tape usage and had a repeat failure. Panasonicwill not provide any good will being its over their 30 day repair warranty. Panasonic no longer repairs in-house and sent the camera to Value Tech in CA. A company that will not answer your phone call or return a call. Three weeks after recieving the camera Value Tech called for authorization to diagnose with 199.00 repair minimum. The camera is not worth the repair bill just to fail again. Panasonic manufactures an excellent boat anchor. Most reputable companies would offer good will to keep a consumer happy. Not Panasonic.

Strengths: None
Weaknesses: Destroys tape and memories
Overall Evaluation: Brought this camcorder around 3 years back. Since than I have sent this camcorder back for repairs atleast 4 times and again this is lying at my home in a useless condition. It makes sound while recording, will cut into the tape and will not play back the previously recorded tapes. Everytime I send it to the panasonic authorised repair shop, they will send it back saying that it needed some cleaning and adjustment. After running for another week it will go back to it's original condition. Each and every repair costs time and money.I will say that it is one of the worst product from panasonic. In future I am never going to buy a panasonic product.
