Bottom Line
A good all-purpose monitor, the PR711F has rich colors and easy-to-use controls; other monitors, however, offer more for the price.

WHAT'S HOT: The PR711F displays good-looking images, rendering graphics slightly better than text. Our test screen shot of some fruit and our photo of a group of children showed well-saturated color and realistic flesh tones. Text was fairly clean and sharp, though smaller fonts looked a tad fuzzy and desktop icons in the corners tended to blur slightly. The PR711F includes four buttons, labeled with both words and pictures, for navigating menus.
WHAT'S NOT: We didn't find any major flaws with the PR711F, but at $229 it's about the same price as the NEC-Mitsubishi MultiSync FE791SB, which has better screen quality. CTX offers less-generous tech support than some other vendors do, making it available for just 12 hours on weekdays (several vendors offer 24-hour support, seven days a week). The call is toll-free, however.
WHAT ELSE: The printed manual contains a lot of information on setting up the monitor, working with the controls, and troubleshooting, as well as warranty information.
UPSHOT: A good all-purpose monitor, the PR711F has rich colors and easy-to-use controls; other monitors, however, offer more for the price.

Strengths: Brightness. Price. User Convenience.
Overall: This CTX Flat-Surface monitor is really awesome. I bought it on May 2000, it works very reliable and durable. The smallest dot-pitch not only provides the best images for user, also shows the most sharp DVD quality. The design is elegant. The most convenient design is the USB port which is on the plate. You can plug your USB mouse, keyboard, scanner, even digital camara directly to the monitor. You don't need to connect these stuffs to your case anymore. It can be USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 output. You will not believe what I said unless you try this CTX PR711F.
