ATI Radeon 9000 Pro
Radeon 9000 Pro AGP 64MB DDR 2D/3D w/TV Out (ATI Technologies-100433001) Review, by Alexandra Krasne September 6, 2002
WHAT'S HOT: In all of our game tests, the Radeon 9000 Pro consistently trounced cards based on NVidia GeForce4 MX 460, 440, and 420 chips. In Unreal Tournament 2003, it hit 148 frames per second, while our GeForce4 MX 460-based board earned just over 100 fps. The Radeon 9000 Pro costs about $10 more than the highest-end MX 460-based cards for its $129 price you also get dual-display support.
WHAT'S NOT: Cards with ATI chips, such as the Radeon 9000 Pro, were about 5 to 18 fps slower than those based on NVidia or Matrox chips in our 3D modeling tests with 3D Studio Max.
WHAT ELSE: In addition to dual-display support, the Radeon 9000 Pro includes DVI-out, S-Video-out, and composite-out; and at the moment, it's the least expensive card on the market with support for DirectX 8.
To test image quality, a three-person panel watched demos of our test applications and observed each card's ability to render complex textures and to display colors and contrast. We saw little difference in image quality between this lower-priced board and the faster, high-end models.
UPSHOT: This version of the Radeon offers a fine combination of speed, price, and some advanced features.

Strengths: Faster than most video cards of its size
Weaknesses: none
Overall: The ATI Radeon 9000 Pro AGP 64MB, is a great video card. It runs games smoothing, and comes with a control panel that has a media player with it and some other nice features. Two thumbs up.

Strengths: Good speed for the price graphics as good as some 128mb cards
Weaknesses: haven't found any yet
Overall: When I first went to install this card, it wouldn't load the memory. It took a bit of expert advice to figure out the problem. The reason some have a problem installing this card is due to the monitor/TV monitor dual hookups, you have to hook both up in back and then turn off the TV part after it installs. Once this is done it's a great card to have. my system is a Pentium 3 Win me

Strengths: Real easy to install and use.
Weaknesses: On some games the frame rate drops a bit. Overall not too bad considering the price.
Overall: I purchased this card to play some 3D games. So far besides the frame rate dropping on some games, It's not too bad. I would purchase another ATI vid card.

Strengths: The videocard is awesome for the money. Renders graphics perfectly at high resoultions. Hydravision is unique and useful.
Weaknesses: Known error loading HALF of the 64mb vram. Multimedia programs are annoying, much rather use Windows Media.
Overall: I was very excited when I got my video card, as I was coming off an ATI Rage Pro FOUR mb vram... The primary game I used to judge the abilities of the videocard was Grand Theft Auto 3. The game ran every well, that is, IF and ONLY IF the card loaded at 64 mb. If it loaded at 32 (almost all the time) the game would get very jerky, and after a while would competely decompose into a rotting pile of cheese, probably pulling a WHOPPING 5 fps. VERY VERY ANNOYING. Ways to get the card to load right were going into the bios and just selecting a different AGP aperture size, or uninstalling the drivers, and then installing them. The card would be great, if it didn't pull that crap. This is a known problem for the card, as well as the Radeon 8500 cards, Ati has it published on their website, but has no solution. Avoid this product, its not worth the time for the money saved, get different model, or a nVidia. This card is MEGA CRAP
