User Reviews for NEC MultiSync FE991SB 19

Strengths: Bright sharp picture. Monitor adjustments can be made through software. Black cabinet looks cool.
Weaknesses: Aperture grille technology causes 2 very faint thin lines to show on the screen.
Overall Evaluation: This is a great improvement over my previous 6-year old NEC MultiSync 70 as the phosphors were going dark on that screen. The 991SB has two SuperBright modes (1 and 2) and they do make a difference. Mode 1 is my favorite for looking at pictures and movies which show beautifully on this monitor. But for word processing and spreadsheets I just keep it off. The NaViSet software is easily downloadable and makes monitor adjustments very, very easy. And yes, there are 2 very thin light-gray lines that are most noticeable if you only intend to use the monitor to stare at 2 very thin light-gray lines. It?s a characteristic of aperture grille technology. Otherwise, it?s nothing to get upset about. Overall, it?s a great value for a great looking monitor and I?m very happy with it.
