AOC LM914 Review
by Roy Santos
This LCD has solid performance and a good price going for it, but adjusting the image controls and screen position is difficult.

WHAT'S HOT: At $775, the AOC LM914 is quite affordably priced for a 19-inch LCD; in our image-quality tests, it held its own against more-expensive LCDs. With its sharp text and icons, and natural-looking colors in photos, the LM914 placed squarely in the middle of the pack of 19-inch models.
The LM914's built-in speakers are some of the best we've heard. They produced a surprisingly big sound, compared with the relative whisper from speakers on many other LCDs. With the volume control conveniently located on the base, you don't have to fumble through the monitor's on-screen controls or Windows' audio control to make volume adjustments.
WHAT'S NOT: You will need the on-screen controls for other settings, however, and that can be frustrating. The on-screen interface disappears after about 10 seconds, and you can't alter the setting to allow more time for adjustments. A button on the bezel labeled with an Up arrow sometimes turns settings down, and another with a Down arrow does the opposite.
The LM914's base is incapable of swiveling--a feature now standard even on many low-cost LCDs. The monitor's height is not adjustable.
WHAT ELSE: The LM914 comes with a simple but attractive black bezel. Telephone tech support is limited to 11 hours on weekdays.
UPSHOT: Despite a few glitches, the AOC LM914 is still a great buy thanks to its strong image quality, above-average integrated speakers, and reasonable price.
