Duration of ownership: 8 Years
Strengths: I like the fact that my brothers, sisters (I got 2 of each) and friends can all send pictures right into my frame.
Weaknesses: Considering it is 2009, it is time to replace this 8 year old frame with one that will last another 8 years.
Overall: I have owned this frame for years now. Time has marched on and and new technology has evolved. I have to admit I am so surprised what I read in the 1 & 2 star reviews. Do these people really own this frame.

Strengths: Great Idea. Lots of ways to upload your pictures. Does weather reports too.
Weaknesses: LCD Display dark, flickers slightly, dithers pictures, horrible LCD viewing angles, difficult to insert cords, unable to hang it on a wall.
Overall: I just purchased 2 Ceiva digital photo frames. The viewing angles on the LCD are horrible. You need to be almost in front of it to see photos clearly. The brightness ratio (even though this can be adjusted) is also poor. If you have a nice dark narrow hallway to place this at the end of you should be set.Trying to plug in the phone cord was also very difficult, I would imagine for Grannys it would be next to impossible and very frustrating. And, the worst thing? Image Quality! Where the Ceiva should shine, it flops. It appears that the LCD panel is only 8/12 bit, as noticeable dithering is occurring on high quality jpgs that I uploaded. This may not be a problem for those with poor eyesight, or are not very particular about image quality. These 2 will probably be returned :(

Strengths: Innovative. Clear Picture. Great concept. Easy to set up.
Weaknesses: Website pretty clumsy. My unit died. Cost of service after warranty = cost of new unit.
Overall: Customer service was unable to help me with unit that died after warranty. They just wanted to sell me a new unit and they are expensive to begin with. I didn't cash my rebate check fast enough and so I lost my rebate. They were unwilling to send me a replacement check.

Strengths: Simple, Easy-to-Use, Does what is designed for.
Weaknesses: None
Overall: Awesome. I now own two of these, one at each grand-parent's house. Both grandparents live hundreds of miles away, and it is a perfect way to send pictures to them almost every day. The web-site continues to become more user friendly. A neat feature is the ability to automatically pull pictures from an "album" of pictures I have stored on ceiva's servers, so that even if i forget to send new pictures, it just pulls a new picture off my album every day.

Strengths: An easy way to transfer pictures quickly to keep you in touch with relatives at a distance!!! Way better than the internet photo albums.
Weaknesses: Customer support was difficult in the beginning but has gotten much better over the year we have owned two units.
Overall: I have found this to be the best gift ever given to our two set of parents (grandparents)!! They run each morning to check for new pictures of what is going on with us. We have had NO picture quality difficulties of any kind with the Ceiva frame; however, we get the units first sent to us, get them set up and then send them on to the recipients with the instructions of "just plugging in and turning on." Makes it easier for people in their 70's who are not even able to manage email yet. This is a wonderful gift and I encourage everyone to get one.

Strengths: Easy to use for my parents.
Weaknesses: 1) Picture quality flickers. 2) Customer Service at Ceiva is very difficult to get ahold of... no phone number on their website.
Overall: When I read about this unit, it was exactly what I was looking for... an easy way to keep my family not near me up to date with pictures, without having to mail them. The concept is great, but the Ceiva company along with the flickering screen, I was not very pleased. I have seen other frames that are linked to computers, which is what I was expecting on my Ceiva. This was definetely not the case. I order 4 units initially, but had to return 2 of them because the flickering was so bad it was difficult to see the picture. I received another 2 replacement units (from buy.com which I would highly recommend), and sure enough, 1 of those the flickering is bad enough that I am going to send it back as well. The flickering is definitely one issue that Ceiva needs to work out. Second issue is Ceiva customer service. The local number here in McKinney TX is not working. I first attempted to send an email, and 2 days later, I finally broke down and called them up after not receiving a response via email. I had difficulties finding the phone number, because Ceiva does not list it anywhere on their site... at least I couldn't find it. I ended up going to networksolutions.com, hitting the whois, and then putting in ceiva.com and dialed the phone number of the technical contact for the website. I was passed to the correct place, but it almost took an act of god to get there. Then, once I called, I was on hold for over an hour. They need to work on customer service.
