Weaknesses: Can only be accessed by one computer at a time.
Overall Evaluation: This Lacie d2 drive is AWESOME! I was looking for a bootable harddrive to back up my laptops. I shopped around and decided to go with the Lacie 200GB Triple Interface because it offered me three ways to interface for the same $250 investment. It was available in a variety of storage capacities. I chose the 200GB because it is large enough to back up my laptops with room to spare. That, along with the triple interface and 7200rpm, sold me as this being the drive of the present and the future. I was pleasantly surprised to find that all three interface cables(USB 2.0, Firewire 400 & 800) were included. Set up is a breeze in OS X. Attach the base, plug(power and interface) and play. The drive automatically powers up from sleep mode and mounts itself on the desktop as soon as you plug the interface cable into your computer. It is hot swappable so you can unplug it from one computer and plug it into another. This drive can be used to boot from unlike some other drives designed simply for back up. The casing is rugged and can stand vertically or horizontally to work with your current set up. You can even stack them. The only thing on my Lacie wish list is that it could be accessed by three different computers using the three different interfaces to serve as a network hard drive. The bottom line is that this competitively priced, feature packed drive is versatile and a great value.
