  Strengths: great colors

  Weaknesses: only 35 mm neg and slides

  Overall: The enclosed software package is lacking. I would love to have Photoshop Elements 2.0 like is available with other Epsom scanners. However it is easy to use and I like the ability to have manual control and automatic scanning. A sheetfeeder would be nice too but not for the price I have seen. $200.00

  Strengths: Product is very easy to use. Just plug it in and off you go. Haven't utilized the slide/negative attachment yet but it appears simple to use.

  Weaknesses: I wish there was more printed information included

  Overall: Product was purchased as refurbished but arrived looking brand new. I waited many months before I decided to purchase from vendor on pricegrabber.com and was reluctant to purchase anything but new. Once I decide to purchase a refurbished product, I prayed it would turn out okay. It did.

  Strengths: easy to use, good clarity of copies, quick and easy to set up

  Weaknesses: Doesn't work from a USB hub. Have to plug directly into port on computer. Not an issue for me.

  Overall: I had it home and was scanning in less than 30 minutes. Super easy to set up. The auto mode is great, don't have to adjust on most items I scan. I'm very pleased with this product.

  Strengths: Quality of pictures and scanning quality is good.

  Weaknesses: Difficulty in installing software, NO ON/OFF SWITCH, Software does not allow internal straightening of images (see below).

  Overall: I was inspired to purchase an Epsom product because I was so pleased with my Epsom printer, but was disappointed with the complexity involved in getting the product set up. It took me ten calls on the Epsom help line (which is not available on weekends) to be led to the proper settings which were embedded in my computer for security. I did not like this. I also really do not like the fact that the scanner has no on/off button, so that the scanner must be unplugged in order to turn it off completely while it is not in use. The efficiency of the picture scanning is good, but the software which was included for the editing of old photos does not allow for straightening the pictures that were taken at odd angles. One can only straighten the pictures in the context of the overall original frame. On a scale of 1-10, I would give the picture quality an 8 and the software and ease of installation a 3 or less.

  Overall: This is my first scanner: I have never used one before and it took me one minute to have my first picture scanned. I am impressed with the quality of the scan and it seems to be pretty fast too. If you are a pro, the software that comes with won`t probably satisfy you, but otherwise it is ok. I wasn`t impressed with the instructions: no booklet, just a fold-out, but enough to figure out how to make it work. For less than $100, I think the 1670 is a great buy!
