Strengths: you can hit skip over and over and over again until you take music for complete granted.

Weaknesses: 3 month warranty, plastic body, cheap head phone jack

Overall Evaluation: I had the device for 6 months. Then the headphone jack broke and to my luck, the "customer support" link on the creative website doesn't really exist. Also, the body is complete cheap plastic with a thin coating of silver to make it look all deceptively durable. I've never felt so ripped off from a portal audio device until I bought this.

Strengths: Easy user interface. Works excellent when using to back up files on your pc as an external HHD. Could not be more simple to organize and customize your media library. Nice wake up alarm concept.

Weaknesses: After 90 days approx. it froze on me several times. Headphone jack broke loose inside (weak welding).

Overall Evaluation: Like I said, after approx. 90 days, the player froze on me for a good twenty minutes, until I got desperate enough and tire of waiting for it to snap out of the trance. Then I was force to open the battery cover, remove the battery, put it back in and turn it on. One day, I just decided to ignore the player and when it froze on me, "again", I just let it be, sat it down on my dash, and just kept on driving. To my surprise, apparently the player just wanted to go on a "coma stage", and that is exactly what happened. After that, it came back to it senses and music started playing on my speakers. Ever since that happened, I have not had any problem with it whatsoever. Player works fine. I literally take it everywhere with me. Well except the fact that I still have not re-welded the headphone jack back into place. I take that back updating my review. I said before that the headphone jack was loose in the mother board. Well three days after I posted my first review I took the liberty to open my zen nx, to prove my theory and found out that the headphone jack was as steady as the eiffel tower. Now with assurance that is nothing but a manufacture fault and defficiency. In other words, the headphone jack SUCKS!!

Strengths: Easy to operate. User-friendly features. Works the 1st time (e.g. down load software, no problem at all.)

    Weaknesses: Haven't seen any.

Overall Evaluation: I was surprised to find how easy it is to use the pocket-sized Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra MP3 Player! I had no problem downloading the software to manage and transfer my mp3 music files. Everything works the first time. I was very please. I'm planning to use it for traveling. I believe this product is as good if not better than the Apple iPod MP3 Player. The price is definitely cheaper! I'm glad I went with Creative.

Strengths: all those that have been mentioned before

Weaknesses: Time to debunk most - I mean who is squinting at the tiny screens they all have all day long changing songs one by one - try a play list or random play all 30 gigabytes - who's pushing buttons?

Overall Evaluation: First - the software is great - most fail to mention that the software is a tremendous file editing tool - I cleaned up and edited a HUGE collection of ratty file tags in far far less time than I could have with any other resource I know of, making mass corrections and edits to files with tag commonalities. Simple recognition as a removable disk by Windows falls far short of what the software does. It does lightning transfers with USB 2 using the software and short of telepathy you have to connect it to the computer anyway. XP recognizes it as an "other" device and you can drag and drop all day long as well. So you can still get files from friends and neighbors - but with the software you can actually make them useable in short order. The earbuds - I don't get this one - the earbuds are quite good. I tried other headphones etc and the included ones were fine. Maybe that sounds a little bland as a defense but I can say that although I am not a professional musician, I play 3 instruments, have music training and have played in performing rock bands and want a good sound. The buds are fine - maybe they put the wrong ones in the package - what do I know.In closing I will say that they should fire the case designer - what a maroon as Bugs would say - but big deal - I spend a few minutes maybe getting the play set up as you would on any machine and then it hangs on my belt or sits in my pocket for 2, 3, 4, 8, 14 hours continously listening to the tunes - oh Yeah - the battery does last around 14 hours in continuous play, I have tested it, and is replaceable - big plus over the competition - but I can tell you this. I have enjoyed spending the 200 bucks less the Zen is than the competition on other cool stuff - and of the 10 gigs of xtra storage I got over the competition for 200 bucks less, I only have 8 left - and I wonder what 2 gigs I would have left out if I had the competition? More for less is definitely better.
