Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Good quality playback.
Weaknesses: Can not burn to DVD+RW, only RAM.Could not get it to record from a digital cable box. Some VHS tapes are copyrighted and I was unable to make copies onto DVD.
Overall Evaluation: I returned back to eTronics.com . $400 and I was charged a restocking fee 15%. I am now getting a computer with Giga Pocket and I will be able to record and burn DVD with one click of a button. I still think DVD Recorders have a long way to go, to spend that kind of money. It is not disc compatible (ie. DVD-R, DVD-RW). My new computer can record it all in any format.

Strengths: multiple pc card slots,Quality of video,IEE 1394 Firewire Port
Weaknesses: cannot Import sound from another source such as tape or CD while burning a disc using DV port you have to use SVHS PORT IN THIS CASE
Overall Evaluation: I have a DVD burner on my computer and could never get the Quality to my satisfaction so I researched every stand alone burner on the market and decided to go with the panasonic DMR-E60 ,the quality is excellent,I use it in a bussiness transfering old photo's,old reel to reel 8mm and personal vhs tapes I also do weddings using a JVCGR-DVL520 DV camera and transfering to DVD everyone loves the quality of my work and I owe alot of it to the DMR-E60,I would like to say to anyone having a problem getting their camera to work using the firewire port be sure you go to that imput on the DMR-E60 using your remote control for the DMR-E60 this should work with any DV camera using the IEEE1394 firewire port.
