Apex AD-1600 DVD Player (Apex-AD1600)

  Strengths: Easy to use, plays DVD's recorded in another brand of DVD recorder. Less confusing than the 'Major' brands.

  Weaknesses: None yet, especially for under $60.

  Overall: If you are looking for a low cost DVD player that is not too complicated to use, this is the one for you. The picture quality is great, and ease of use is a plus.

  Strengths: The product flawlessly performs exactly as described

  Weaknesses: It lacks the typical high end features found on more expensive units such as lots of output choices

  Overall: This is the fourth Apex unit I've purchased. The other three are AD-1200, a very similar but slightly older model. From the very first unit through the AD-1600 described here, they've all performed without any problem whatsoever. Of particular importance to me is their ability to play any format CD without the annoying skipping and stalling exhibited on my much more expensive albeit older unit. With four already on hand, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, especially at this price.

  Strengths: Still working after a years use. Also, slap in a CD-R/CD/RW and view .jpg pictures and Kodak Picture Discs without a Dazzle, which would set you back about $50.Also plays MP3 and WMA.

  Weaknesses: Not for the price!

  Overall: Great little DVD for the price. You won't get DTS or any of those other ancronyms, but nice for a 2nd or 3rd TV, and small enough for travel.
