If you work mostly on text documents and don't want to be confined to the single, fixed resolution of an LCD, the FE2111SB is worth considering. In our comparative tests, it rendered good-looking text, trailing only the pricier Cornerstone p1750 in overall quality. However, in our graphics text, the FE2111SB finished near the bottom of the pack, beating only the Iiyama Vision Master Pro 514 , which failed to make our chart. We test at factory default settings, however, so tweaking the settings could improve performance, and the FE2111SB offers plenty of options for that. Buttons on the bezel provide access to a rich assortment of image-adjusting menus. Or you can adjust monitor settings with your mouse after downloading NEC-Mitsubishi's NaviSet software. We do have a few gripes about NaviSet--such as the need to hunt and peck both for the download on the company's Web site and for the interface in the Advanced portion of the Display Properties Control Panel. But once you find your way around, NaviSet offers a simpler, more-intuitive interface than the monitor's standard on-screen display menus.
