Princeton Digital SENergy 914 Review

- Although nearly all LCDs display sharp text, the SENergy stood out even among a field of excellent 19-inch competitors by earning the top text-quality score in our March 2004 roundup. That honor should especially catch the weary eyes of people such as accountants or stock traders who spend long hours looking at text. The SENergy 914's graphics quality fell a bit short of the average of other 19-inch monitors we looked at, but it was still quite good, and the unit scored above average in a few tasks, such as displaying uniform brightness in our white-screen test and capturing subtle brightness and color gradients on our gray-scale and color-scale screens.

Strengths: Controls on front, nice appearance, fast, bright, comes with DVI cable

Weaknesses: None that I can think of....

Overall Evaluation: I bought my first Princeton 19" LCD monitor in August 2004, and when I was in the market for a second LCD, I bought another Princeton. I was looking for perahps a better monitor and really, for the price, nothing beats this Princeton. On my old PC, I can't use the DVI cable, but I can with my new PC. It's sharp, bright, reloads rapidly, and looks great on my desk. I even think the speakers are great. When I was looking for the second LCD I thought I would get a better monitor that didn't offer speakers since my new PC comes with speakers. As it happens, I'm even happier that I purchased this monitor with speakers because one of my cats chewed through the connecting wires of the speakers on the new PC so I just bypassed them & now use the built-in speakers with the Princeton. My PC comes with a sub-woofer, so that sort of boosts the power. I love this monitor and I highly recommended it without any reservations! OH, I don't know if monitors can make any noises, but this one is entirely quiet. Also, I didn't see any dead pixels...but then I don't know where to look for dead pixels. If they are readily noticable, I have not seen any dead pixels on either monitor.
