Elsa Gladiac 920 64MB AGP GeForce 3 Graphics Accelerator

Bottom Line
For amazing image quality look no further than the Gladiac 920. But buyers may want to wait on a GeForce3 upgrade until more DirectX 8 games are available.
ELSA Gladiac 920
Gladiac 920 64MB AGP GeForce 3 Graphics Accelerator Review, by Alexandra Krasne, PCWorld.com June 5, 2001
WHAT'S HOT: Never before has a graphics card elicited oohs and ahs from our subjective test panel; the $359 Gladiac 920 was the first to earn such praise. We could see every brick of the dark hallways in Unreal Tournament, and clouds appeared fluffy and wispy in the blue sky of TestDrive 6. Because it displayed our test games with such clarity, the Gladiac received near-perfect image-quality scores. This is one of five cards on the chart with full hardware support for the DirectX 8 multimedia standard. The card we tested included a GeForce-optimized version of Interplay's game Giants: Citizen Kabuto, although it wasn't a DirectX 8 version.
WHAT'S NOT: Despite a $40 price drop this month, the Gladiac 920 is still relatively expensive. And at this point there are only a handful of DirectX 8 games available that take advantage of the GeForce hardware acceleration.
WHAT ELSE: The Gladiac 920 features an S-Video-out port, so you can display games on a television screen. ELSA offers a six-year warranty as well as 10 hours of toll-free tech support on weekdays.
BEST USE: If you're seeking amazing image quality, look no further than the Gladiac 920. However, before you spring for a GeForce3 board such as the 920, you may want to check prices on the new Titanium boards, which are expected to cost about the same.

Strengths: Superb conpatability, it rocks with the detonator drivers and reigns supream ontop of all its compertition
Weaknesses: nnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooonnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeee Full Stop
Overall: When this card first came into our shop i thought the price was rediculose at £350 how ever i picked it up for a sweet £270 and have never looked back since. I previosly had a geforce2 gts 32m and belive me i noticed the diffrence, has ne 1 played ureal lava giant on this card woooosh it rocks, the indervidual pixel shader makes all the diffrence, and the bump mapping is unberliverble. Serious Gamers Buy This Card.

Strengths: IT looked cool in the box
Weaknesses: Unstable on Athlon systems
Overall: When installed on a Athlon 950, Asus motherboard/via chipset, it crashed and burned. The card will not use its fan and overheats excessively. IT always crashes the DVD drive after 1 hour of playing time, every 3 minutes that a jpg image is displayed causes the card to hard lock the computer.

Strengths: Easy install, Working great with Win 2K Pro. Unreal never had it so good. Fastest card yet. Other PC's at home running Radeon DDR and Hercules 64, none compare
Weaknesses: Expensive .. Yes, but performance prevails.
Overall: Running against the Redeon, this card smokes. Biggest plus, no hangs, no conflicts and no more poor ATI support. Don't think I ever quite got over paying $10 for updated DVD Player and drivers when I already own the product. The install went flawless, Did so well, I have not even considered upgrading to the 2000 version. Why mess with perfection! Thanks Elsa !

Strengths: Great drivers, optional 3D glasses, VERY FAST, great for overclocking, nice software bundle, oh yeah and FAST
Weaknesses: Expensive.......yep
Overall: I love this card. Very well made, overclocks very well. Just a bit more expensive than some of the other cards. But that money goes to cover the SIX YEAR WARRANTY.
