Samsung SyncMaster 193P Review

- Newer monitors have caught up with the Samsung SyncMaster 193P since we reviewed it in the August 2004 issue of PC World--and many have passed it. This time it earned a Very Good rating for text quality, whereas last time we rated its text Outstanding. The 193P's crisp representation of letters on a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, though remarkable when first reviewed, now looks average. Our jurors found the Microsoft Word test screen dim. A few jurors noted a cold, blue-green cast on most screens, but our photo of people had good detail and pleasing color balance. Overall, we rated the 193P Good for graphics quality. The 193P's overall image quality ranks in the bottom third of the current crop of recently tested monitors.

Strengths: Very cool LCD monitor, Slim, Pictures are so clear and bright

Weaknesses: None.

Overall Evaluation: This is a very cool monitor and worth for the money. Samsung makes very good LCD monitor on this one. I got a very deal from this monitor too ($519.00 shipped plus $200 MIR). You cannot find any monitor that can beat this price and quality. 19" is a good size for the LCD monitor too. The weight is light and the shape is slip plus in silver color. There is only one button on this monitor. So, you don't have to do anything. It has auto-adjustment. The button is nice too. You don't have to push it but just touch it. I would highly recommend this monitor.

Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Light weight. Good picture and color quality. Auto configure. Wall mountable. Rotates easily. Long warranty.

Weaknesses: Little bit pricey

Overall Evaluation: I replaced a 6 years old SONY 17" CRT. This flat panel saved me lots space and it's easy for me to move a flat panel instead a 20 lbs CRT.
