User Reviews for LG Electronics Flatron L1710SK

    Duration of ownership:

    Strengths: Compact design, great color.

    Weaknesses: None so far.

Overall Evaluation: This is one of the best LCDs you can get for the price. There was also a $70 rebate that swayed me.The screen is easily sharp enough to keep it at 1280x1024 resolution and the colors are excellent for an LCD. The screen is also elevated more than the older 1710 models, so that your paperwork or keyboard on your desk can be pushed slightly underneath the monitor, something that is lacking for PC monitors in general.Highly recommended for an entry-level 17" LCD.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: No dead pixels, easy to set up, low price. The tweaking software is handy.

Weaknesses: Text is subpar - very smeary. I'll be returing it since I use Office all day. I'm pretty disappointed, since the review made it sound good.

Overall Evaluation: I would not buy this monitor again - I'm looking at a Sharp. I guess you get what you pay for. If you don't need sharp text then this monitor would be OK.

Strengths: Superb Graphics at a bargain price

    Weaknesses: None

Overall Evaluation: The LG L1710SK is an excellent monitor. The graphics are fantastic. Every monitor needs its color adjusted, and this one is no exception. Text is quite acceptable though probably not as sharp as monitors a couple of hundred dollars more. For the bargain price of $289 with shipping, this monitor is a fantastic deal. I highly recommend.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Very bright, crispy picture and easy to set up.

Weaknesses: Color not as accurate as desired. No digital input.

Overall Evaluation: This is one of the lowest priced LCD display. But if you can have an extra $100 to spare, it's probably better bet to buy a SONY product.

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Takes little space. No dead pixels!!! Setup was easy, straight forward. Very reasonable cost under $300 with rebate. Tuning picture quality is very flexable and has presets too. 3-year warranty!

Weaknesses: Install instructions are a little weak. Need digital counters with slider control of color settings in tuning software. Has nag to purchase other software!

Overall Evaluation: I'm very pleased with this LCD monitor so far. Its the first I have owned, though not first I have used. Have looked at a few in stores and used a couple others at work. This unit is very good. Quick response, no ghosting that I can see. Full array of brightness, color, contrast, etc. adjustments are possible through the manual controls. I used the tuning software first and then did final adjustment after I finished. I switched from a 17" CRT that I ran 800x600 and now run this unit at 1152x864. I tried to get to the advertised 1280x1024, but I think my AGP 2x video card would not handle that resolution. Still the 1152x864 gave me more desktop real-estate and was very readable... even without my glasses. Add on top of that, I now have my desk's desktop back! :-) Though I said the install instructions are week, its not a huge issue. How hard is it to hook up a monitor anyway? The fine tuning program works well but the nag for software purchase is a huge no-no to me. Gonna have to find the registry entry for that and kill it! Time will tell how well this unit will do. If it gives me the years of service my old 17 did and still does, I will be a very happy camper.
