Pioneer DVR-320-S DVD Recorder

  Strengths: Great quality recordings of my home movie tapes

  Weaknesses: Cant record tv from digital sources at all (if you have no analogue its a paperweight)

  Overall: I feel completely robbed by this machine. I read reviews saying time to dump your VHS and go dvd, timeslip tv shows etc. Well providing you dont rely on digital tv sources it may work. But if you have to use digital this recorder will not work at all. I'll repeat that, YOU CANNOT RECORD ANY DIGITAL TV SOURCE AT ALL on this recorder. Because digital tv is copy protected, yes even the advertisements. I don't have analogue tv worth watching so, for me this machine is now a paperweight.

  Strengths: Low cost, Pioneer durability

  Weaknesses: Not very user friendly, No composite video input

  Overall: In the short period of time that I've had this unit it appears to be more difficult than a VCR to operate. The video quality of the recordings are much better though.

  Overall: i purchased this unit to use in addition to my vcr. after figuring out how to properly program channels and program unit, performance has been very good. using dvd-rw the unit is much easier to use than a vcr and deleting shows is very easy. no hard disc but i did not want to pay the extra $200 for the dvr-520hd. so far i am very satisfied with the performance of this unit.
