Strengths: Very easy setup, lots of customization, motion detection, works well wirelessly
Weaknesses: fixed lens, digital zoom with no optical zoom, mic is sporatic at best.
Overall: This is an excellent camera that does everything D-link says it will, but some things better than others... the mic is a waste of time, and with no optical zoom, distances over 10-15 feet loose alot of detail. However, this PTZ camera can be easily controlled via the internet, recorded by schedule or movement with lots of customization. for an inexpensive PTZ, this is a terrific camera.

Strengths: Good quality video when it works.
Weaknesses: Nearly impossible to get it to work.
Overall: I've owned this camera for two years. I could never get the setup to work. Finally after HOURS AND HOURS on the phone with tech support we got it to work (occassionally). Just for kicks, I took it off the shelf last weekend since I'm going on an extended trip, and even with the firmware and software updates it still fails to perform reliably.

Strengths: all is good except image quality. It is worse than my cell phone
Weaknesses: video quality looks like those cameras you see on tv, that no one can identify the suspect.
Overall: If you insist on trying this camera, buy from someone who doesn't charge a restocking fee. you'll also have to pay return shipping. I'll bet you'll want to return this. I'm stuck with mine.

I Think IP Video and IP Cameras is easiest technology to install 2-6 cameras at your home.
It took me just one day to installed 4 AXIS IP cameras (Model 210 and 211). The most tricky part was to find where to place cameras I used JVSG design tool to find out lens focal length and camera locations.
When I went to local shop, purchased cameras and UTP cable. I already had a PC and a switch at home. Then it really took just 3 hours to do the installation.
The good advantage of IP cameras is an easy remote monitoring and easy installation. -

The last step was to just start a recording software and that was it. Now I have my own surveillance system and I can access all my cameras from work

I seems I entered links above wrong way and unfortunatelly there is no way to edit that post.
So here are correct links: I used AXIS IP cameras and JVSG design tool to see fields of view in 3D and calculate lens.
Some information about the subject I found reading forums: networkcamerareviews.com and cctvforum.com, but unfortunatelly I have not found any good DIY cctv website where you can get an easy instruction how to choose, design and install a home video surveillance system.
