Duration of ownership:
Strengths: good battery life, quality of musics, group function, remote control, capablitiy of using mic
Weaknesses: software needs to be updated
Overall Evaluation: Overall this is a great product. If you record music in Hi-MD mode with regular MD disk, you can store more than 5 or 6 CDs. I have two computers, one with window 2000 and the other with window xp. The software works ok with xp, but I have problem with window 2000. The software does not recognize mp3 files.

Duration of ownership:
Strengths: Excellent battery life, good travelling durability, good recording qualities when used with a variety of input sources including mics.
Weaknesses: Can be overwhelming and hard to work with until you are familiar with the unit's operation
Overall Evaluation: Bought my first NHF800 late January 2004 and have been pleased ever since. I travel all over the place and record lectures using a small lapel condenser mic from Radio Shack. Recordings have been flawless and playback with excellent audio quality. Now coming up to the end of January 2005 I can safely say that this is a quality unit for the money and worth every penny. There are some who put down this unit because of apparent "data loss or corruption". Quite true, if you don't heed the instructions when you upgrade your Sonic Stage from Sony's website. Use your head...if it's important make sure you have a backup.........Anyways, I have updated Sonic Stage after backing up and I have had no problems at all.If you buy one you won't be dissapointed!Cheers!
