Bottom Line
Three USB 2.0 ports and a full range of physical adjustments make this well-designed thin-bezel monitor a pleasure to use.
Dell UltraSharp 1905FP

Dell's full-featured UltraSharp 1901FP is a tough act to follow, but the UltraSharp 1905FP replaces it ably. Like its predecessor, the 1905FP includes four UBS 2.0 ports (two on the side of the bezel, and two in the back). It also follows its sibling's lead in allowing you to tilt the screen, pivot it, swivel it on its base, and adjust its height.
With the second-highest test scores for text quality that we've seen lately, the 1905FP received a Very Good rating for text. Slightly ruddy flesh tones in our photo of people contributed to graphics scores that were middling among recently tested 19-inch LCDs but were strong enough overall to earn a rating of Very Good for graphics as well.
The 1905FP's pixel redraw rate of 20ms is an improvement on the 1901fp's 25ms, but it's hardly ground-breaking--and we couldn't detect any improvement in how games and movies looked. Still, this monitor's excellent image quality, great array of features, and competitive price combined to help it capture Best Buy honors on our January 2005 chart.
Upshot: The Dell UltraSharp 1905FP covers all the bases: screen quality, physical adjustability, and extras features.

Duration of ownership: 8 Months
Strengths: Good size, small frame surrounding picture and USB ports to plug in.
Weaknesses: None, thus far.
Overall: I went to this 19" Dell monitor after using a 17" for a couple of months that came with my Dell computer. I set the resolution to the max at 1280x1024 and the pictures and games I use are excellant quality. I also like that it has usb ports that I can use because I have used all of the available ones on my computer. M.M.

Strengths: Bright, clear, and color-accurate. Saves a HUGE amount of desk space, and the cords are neatly stowable.
Weaknesses: REALLY BRIGHT - hard to dim down enough for night work.
Overall: I suffered with a 19" CRT for a long time - it was a really nice monitor, but it took the entire desk. I did extensive research on a flat panel display, and settled on this one. I expected to make a sacrifice or two to get my desk back, but this display is at least as good as my old CRT. There is a (very little) bit of "ghosting" when things are moving fast on the screen, but it's barely worth mentioning. Thanks, DELL, you got something right!!

Strengths: Clarity, 2 usb ports, both DVI and VGA ports and cables for both included, and 9" height from base to the bottom of display. Very heavy duty stand.
Weaknesses: None.
Overall: Make sure you install the driver. I didn't at first and my computer would take about 4 minutes to go through the process of starting. Once installed, it was a quick start. Also note that prices at Dell various all the time. I bought mine for $300 but now they are selling for 270 or so.

Weaknesses: No card readers.
Overall: If all goes well for 3 months will buy 1 more for duel disply.Easy set up,good color,easy to use,delevery on time.I don't know what more to say but I would like to have had one for years!

Strengths: Ultra sharp
Overall: Ultra sharp!!! Very clear resoultion. I wish they had in a silver color, but I'm pleased with the black one!! It's pretty thin, it won't take up too much space.

Overall: bought this for my son's dorm, it is great, doubles as a TV screen, resolution and refresh excellent. Sits well on student desk, fits well into small space. I would buy it again.
