Sharp LC-32G4U 32
Sharp Aquos LC-32G4U Review
- One of two LCD TVs we tested for our April 2005 LCD TV roundup that offered 1366 by 768 resolution (the others had 1280 by 768 resolution), the 32-inch Sharp tilts and swivels slightly but has no height adjustment.

Strengths: HD picture - elegant design - lightweight LCD panel
Weaknesses: SD picture is disappointing
Overall Evaluation: I bought this LCD TV for the kitchen where it is attached to a ceiling arm/mount. With the two attached speakers removed, this panel presents a huge picture in a small "footprint". Sources are Dishnetwork HD Sat Box and upconverting DVD player at 1080i. I get some nice off-air HD channels too, but the programming is too dismal for me to care. I hope the Wimbledon and French Open finals will be broadcast in HD. One problem - I choose this model because all the input/control functions are contained in a seperate box. This was important because I didn't want several bundles of cables going to the display, not to mention the thickness and weight of the LCD panel itself is lowered because a lot of electronics is contained inthe AVC box. However the sharp system cable which links the "AVC" box and the lcd panel is only 9 ft long. Sharp offers a 33ft cable as the only option at around $750. This is crazy, and I am looking for alternatives. One possibility is custom cables, another is that the japanese sharp site has a 22ft cable for $200 but I am not sure these will work in a US market unit. Check out the thread on AVS ForumAlso I bought from dbuys.com - great site. The TV arrived in four days even though I only had ground shipping (10-14 days)

Strengths: Picture, clarity and overall look of the t.v.
Weaknesses: The only thing I can say is it's a bit difficult to set up yourself. We tried and just couldn't get it right, so we called our cable company for help and they set it up correctly.
Overall Evaluation: This is by far one of the best LCD's out there, the picture clarity is amazing especially in HDTV mode. It's almost as if the pictures jump out at you! I just stare it in amazement. The sound is superb as well. DVD's that you've had will now look totally different to you. I can't say enough about this t.v. - it is a bit on the high end as far as price goes, but it's so worth it when you think of it long term and how technology is changing so rapidely - this t.v. has the Cable Card Slot which most t.v. will have in 2006. I would highly recommend it.
