Adaptec Snap Appliance Snap Server 1100 - Network storage server - HD 250 GB x 1
Snap Appliance Snap Server 1100 Review
- For small to medium-size offices, the Snap Server 1100 is a popular choice. Of the NAS units we tested, this device has the most capable software, including advanced features such as support for NetWare, AppleShare, and NFS servers (for cross-platform setups and older devices). The Snap Server 1100 also supports HTTP (Web browser) and FTP access; flexible user-security and group-security settings; and the ability to sync one Snap Server with another over a network.

Strengths: relatively easy to set up, NFS compatibility
Weaknesses: Documentation, compatibility
Overall Evaluation: SnapOS 4 is not compatible w/ NTLMv2. This fact is relatively hard to find. There seem to be some compatibility issues as well. I was not able to copy some files created on a Mac to the snap server that our solaris systems running samba 3.0.10 and our windows machnes were able to handle w/ no problem. I also don't like the documentation - all the information I wanted was available somewhere, between the knowledgebase, other locations on the web site, and the online and PDF docs, but I found it hard to find anything but the most simple-minded explanations. The online help system is better than the PDF Administrator Guide.
