Hyundai ImageQuest L90D+
ImageQuest L90D+ Review, by Laura Blackwell February 23, 2005
Priced at $369 when we reviewed it, Hyundai's ImageQuest L90D+ is the least-expensive 19-inch monitor we've seen lately. It comes as a pleasant surprise that this budget model offers height and pivot adjustments--features more common on higher-end monitors. Height adjustment helps users set the screen at a comfortable level, and screen pivot comes in handy for viewing the screen in portrait mode. The L90D+ does not include screen pivoting software, however, such as PivotPro, which would add $40 to the cost of the monitor.
Though the L90D+ includes the adjustment features of a more costly monitor, its image quality is mediocre. Most jurors found text adequate, but not especially crisp, on our text screens. The L90D+ showed pleasing balance in our group photo screen, but the colors of small images on our Web page seemed slightly off. Overall, the L90D+ eked out ratings of Good in both text and graphics.
For the money, the L90D+ delivers better-than-expected design. The silver cabinet and rounded black stand feel secure and well-weighted. The contrasting paint and real words on the labels make the simple controls easy to understand. That said, we wish that the membrane buttons had had heavier actuation. We weren't thrilled with the sound from the built-in speakers, but we liked that we could control the volume conveniently from the front of the bezel. Picky listeners may want to use the headphone jack instead. Hyundai includes an audio cable, so you can plug this monitor in and play music without making a trip to Radio Shack.
Upshot: The Hyundai ImageQuest L90D+ has a bargain price and a graceful design, but we weren't impressed with its image quality.
19-inch screen; 1280 by 1024 native resolution; 15.5 pounds; one analog input and one digital input; height, pivot, and tilt adjustments; TCO'99-compliant. Three-year warranty (including backlight); 8-hour weekday toll-free tech support.

Strengths: Color fidelity, brightness, fast response time, color saturation
Weaknesses: Bad quality control from manufacturer
Overall: I'm a reseller in Brazil and I bought 20 L90D+ and I had the same issue (vertical colored lines in right side of screen) in 4 of them, a very high rate (20%) of defective items. Very bad quality control despite of no bad pixel.

Strengths: Good Picture Quality
Weaknesses: None Found Yet
Overall: I have been told I am a very picky person (among other things) believe me you will not find anyone more picky than I am. I have went over this monitor with a fine tooth comb, and I have to say that the only thing I could find wrong with it was 1 dead pixel (I guess thats what you call it) It looks like a half of a speck of dust in the center to the left of the screen it is only visible when it is on a black screen such as boot up or maybe on the intro to some games, and then you really have to look for it to see it. Had I not been so picky I would not have noticed it, Yes the adjustment buttons and the on off button are not exactly easy to access but this is no problem and believe me if it were I would let you know. It has a good picture, good response time If I have no other problems with this monitor I would recommend It. I have only been using it for about 48 hrs.but I have really put it through the ringer trying to find something wrong with it. It seems strange for me to rate something this high that I do not find perfect but if I were an average computer user I would never have noticed any imperfection.

Strengths: Great Image quality, DVI, Fast Response time, Great price
Weaknesses: buttons in awkward position
Overall: The minute I first put this monitor together I knew I had gotten my moneys worth. Its was very simple to set up. I didn't have a single dead pixel, It had a very substantial size, image quality, and response time. I researched monitors for weeks before I finally chose this one, and I have no regrets. This monitor is a must for gamers, or movie buffs with not much money to spend. I have a 6800 pro and it runs all my games, from Rome total war to Splinter cell Chaos theory like butter. By far best deal, I could find.

Strengths: Otherwise excellent if not for the fatal flaw with my monitor
Weaknesses: Stuck pixel
Overall: My monitor came with a bright green stuck pixel below the center of my screen. It is amazing how distracting this can be. When I view a webpage with a white background it is not noticable, but in any other circumstance (darker backgrounds, moving images) it seems that it is the only thing you can see. I've seen about 40 LCD monitors (a different brand) in the building where I work and none of them have stuck pixels. I'll assume that Hyundai has lower standards then some other manufacturers. My main issue with this is that Hyundai knew about my monitor's defect before they packaged it but they pretend that this is just some natural variation that consumers shouldn't care about. Manufacturers should be required to reveal such known defects to the consumer before purchase. I for one would never have considered purchasing a monitor with a bright green pixel in the center - and yes I would have paid more for a guarantee of a non defective monitor.
