Bottom Line
Prints text quickly, though it's slow at printing photos. Makes copies at above-average speed.
Lexmark P6250
P6250 All-In-One Printer (22 PPM, 4800x1200 DPI, Color, PC/Mac) Review, by Paul Jasper May 3, 2005
The $170 Lexmark P6250 is generous with its photo features, but it demands some tradeoffs in performance. The P6250 is easy to use, thanks in part to a bright, 2.5-inch color LCD, which aids in menu navigation and image editing. Two media card slots, which sit behind a clear fold-down door, can read all major formats. A PictBridge port allows you to print directly from a compatible digital camera.
In the box, you get a tricolor cartridge containing dye-based inks and a photo cartridge containing pigment-based light cyan, light magenta, and black inks. On glossy paper, the P6250's six inks produced beautiful, sharp photo prints. Some of the colors, including skin tones, looked a bit artificial, though color transitions were smooth and shadows exhibited good detail. Photo printing was slow: The P6250 took 3 minutes 9 seconds to print our test photo, whereas the average speed of the nine MFPs we tested for the June 2005 chart was 2 minutes 7 seconds.
Text printing, on the other hand, was very fast, at 7.4 pages per minute; and color graphics emerged at 1.6 ppm (just below the average). To reduce ink consumption when printing office documents, you'll want to swap the photo cartridge for a high-capacity pigment-based black cartridge. Unfortunately, print quality on plain paper was disappointing. Text looked dark, but edges appeared jagged; we saw a lot of narrow horizontal banding; and italics appeared to cast a shadow. Our line-art print exhibited bizarre wavelike patterns in the narrow horizontal lines, and a magnifying glass revealed that the lines--which were supposed to have the same width everywhere--varied in thickness across the page.
Scanning quality and copying quality were reasonably good, though nothing special. The P6250's scan speed was below average, but the unit took just 17 seconds (6 seconds less than the average) to copy a letter-size document.
Upshot: The economically priced Lexmark P6250 prints high-quality photos and outputs text quickly; but its print quality and performance are middle-of-the-pack otherwise, and the model lacks speed and sophistication.

Strengths: LCD, memory card slots.
Weaknesses: No fax, you cannot open the back to retrieve paper jams.
Overall: I bought it because I like the look, too bad there's no fax. The printing quality is very acceptable, however coping quality is just fair. The printer will verbally tell you when printing starts and stops, a nice little feature.I had to take back the first printer because it keeps eating my envelopes only to find the second printer also does this. It is difficult to remove paper jams as you cannot open the back of the printer. Buy it only if you don't print alot of envelopes, it's fine as a home printer and you can get a better printer for less then the $99 this one costs.

Strengths: AIO, LCD preview, no pc require for copy and photo print
Weaknesses: design
Overall: unfortunately before i have used this AIO, i have tried several recent models from HP, EPSON, and CANON. I must say the looks and feel of this unit is bulky and cheap. i even compared it to a lower cost unit from other brand. fortunately, if you can overlook the housing of P6250 then this unit should work just fine for what it suppose to do. the built-in software allow you to preview, crop, etc..image that is read directly from a memory card. this unit also support pictbridge as well. If you can get this unit for around $100 then it's a good buy.

Strengths: LCD Screen, PictBridge, Easy User Interface, Fast Print Speed, Good Quality Photo Printing
Weaknesses: All three colors in one cartridge, photo ink colors and black on one cartridge
Overall: I had a Canon Multipass F50 Multifunction Printer and after having it for several years it finally died. This multifunction is the replacement and I am presently very satisfied. LCD Screen makes copying, scanning, and photo printing very easy; it allows for you to see the product before finalizing and producing and makes enlargement extremely easy. PictBridge allows for pictures to be pulled directly off of memory card or camera to printer. User interface is easy, although the number of options available make it a chore to navigate. Draft quality printing is fast and high quality printing is very detailed and colorful. There is an option for a all black cartridge or a photo ink and black cartridge, which is nice, but can get pricey if you use up all the black ink and very little of the photo ink. Also, the color CMY cartridge is all in one and I like my printers to have separate cartridges like most Canon and Epson printers.
