User Reviews for Xerox WorkCentre C2424

    Duration of ownership:

Strengths: Duplex and booklet printing options; reliable - no jams downtime. Feature rich. Xerox quality.

Weaknesses: Doesn't use much ink for printing - but uses considerable ink for print head cleaning.

Overall Evaluation: I really like this printer. Good print output. Not a photo printer (quality is not equal to most other color printers in my observation), but I do print some photos and it does fine for my purposes. Excellent text and graphic output (given the 600 dpi limitation) Color on mine is not true-to-screen, but this can be tweaked if you want to dig in to the technical capabilities of this printer. My biggest complaint is ink usage. The ink is not cheap. For printing, the unit is pretty stingy with the ink - no complaints there. But if you ever clean the print heads, beware. Cleaning also occurs automatically after a power outage or if the unit is turned off (instead of put in sleep mode)for more than a few minutes. My power has gone off twice since I have had the unit and I have run the Clean Print Head utility about 4 times. Those 6 cleanings have used up more ink than the 3000 pages I have printed since I owned it. If Xerox could address this the unit would be just about perfect for Home/Office use.

What You Should Know about the WorkCentre C2424

Duplex Printing a Must for Busy Offices

A printer with duplex capability contains an internal mechanism for turning the paper over to print on the other side. (This is not to be confused with the manual duplexing that some printers offer, where driver software walks you through the process of turning over the paper yourself.) Any high-volume office should seriously consider this feature. The duplexing process slows down your print job a bit, but it also immediately cuts your paper use in half -- good for your budget, good for the environment.
